Pretty sky, nice. We haven't had much blue skies lately. I really like that color.

67 degrees, huh? Where's that? Call me jealous, it's 4°F here. We had a very very small fire at work today, full evacuation of the building, like 300 people standing out in 10°F cold for half an hour. It sucked!

    it's in Texas.

i just checked...with the exception of one day, the highs will be in the 70s for the next 6 days.

oh yikes, standing outside in 10 degree weather is what i'd consider freezing my buns off. LOL. you didn't mention any injuries or anything from the fire, so if anything, glad everyone was okay.

Yea it was really small, just a piece of equipment overheated in a utility room. It was right down the hall from where I was, we smelled some burning plasticy odors but didn't think much of it. I'm sure if someone came across it we would've just put it out with an extinguisher. But as it happened, it set off the alarm, so we evacuated, like 5 fire trucks showed up, and THEY put it out with an extinguisher. Wish we'd had a nice blue Texas sky when we were outside instead of this overcast gray NH one. Oh well!

I'll be on Oahu as well. Doesn't really count though, since I grew up there. Quick trip this time--in and out in 5 days. I couldn't pass up $264RT airfare.

Very nice picture. Looks like you're right next to the Royal Hawaiian. My wife's friend had their wedding there in the hotel courtyard. Coincidentally I spent 1 summer working in a camera/gift shop very near that spot, and another summer working at the zoo that's hidden in the tree line in front of Diamond Head in the distance. Good times.

wowza, great price on that ticket! which airlines was that?

Hawaii's awesome...so much to see, good food, perfect beach weather! the one thing we didn't get a chance to do (and i'm still sorta bummed about) was hike Diamond Head. oh well, something to look forward to, for next time.

holy smoke! i'm amazed the building still had hot spots the following morning in subzero weather.

Hawaiian Airlines. Got an email back during the holidays about the special and booked then. Their planes are "older", but they are one of the few airlines that still provides complimentary meals.

Didn't mention this earlier, but coincidentally (and you'll think I'm making this crap up) I spent 1 summer working inside the Diamond Head crater. The state Civil Defense is headquartered in an underground facility and I got a summer internship after my freshman year in college to map roads, fuel facilities, hospitals, flood zones, etc. I saw the 1991 solar eclipse that summer from inside the crater. The hike is not too challenging, with nice views at the top. There's a long section of dark tunnel, which can be daunting if you have claustrophobia.

that's cool! not that i've been there, but i figured some govt agency/organization had to score some office space inside Diamond Head.

hiking it is #1 priority next time BF and i set foot on Oahu. we had gone everywhere the week we were there, and on our last day (when i had plans for our hike), we were too pooped to get out of bed early.

I turned off the heat and left some windows open when I went to work today, got some nice fresh air in the place. Yeehaw! So nice.

Yesterday it hit as high as 67 in NYC, even though the weather reports didnt show that.

This has to be the mildest winter Ive ever seen here, its snowed twice with it sticking only one time so far. Most of January has been above 40F
Am I alone here? Is that it?
Am I the only one who sees.

Maybe we can learn to be just like him.
    Wear a little uniform.
    Yes, sir.
    No, sir.
    Thank you, sir.

More often than not, I open a window (even if it's only a few inches) to get good, fresh air inside, anywhere from a couple of hrs to most of the day (depending on the weather). I remember telling a group of ppl this and they were absolutely floored....'cause listen to this, they rarely open their windows.

I just told my BF the other night that last year it was soooo cold for weeks, I had to *prep* my side of the bed with my electric blanket before bed. This year....blanket hasn't made its way out of the closet.
