    Whoopee stone

I found this rock in the middle of the woods a couple weeks ago and I still have no idea what to make of it. Been pondering it like a zen puzzle or something. It's maybe 2 feet wide with letters maybe 2" high.

It looks like it's been there a while, but it's literally in the middle of nowhere, in a wildlife preserve, by the shore of a river. It's a heavily wooded area, no old buildings or foundations anywhere around.

Did some prankster just decide to do this in order to mess with peoples' heads? What's "WHOOPEE" mean... is this some kind of memorial to the spot where some kid got laid for the first time? I dunno. I just don't know! Anyone have a theory??

^ my thought too. also, it reminded me of the movie "Shawshank Redemption" where Andy asks Red for a favor (of digging up something under a rock near an oak tree) once he gets out.

Is it definitely a rock or is it a chunk of cement? Great find, if only it could tell its' own story. Actually Napoleon, that looks like the cover picture for the book you should write about it.

it's a big honkin' chunk of granite, a significant portion of it is buried in the ground underneath. I thought it was a grave stone at first. There's a faint yellow drawing on the left, but I'm sure this is just graffiti.

if you had to guess, how many pounds do you think it is? any possibility there was maybe some flooding that happened some time ago and it got swept away to its current location?

The part above ground has gotta be around 80-100lbs, pretty heavy. It is by a river, but it's setting maybe 10 feet from the edge of a high bank that's heavily wooded, it doesn't look to me like somewhere that gets flooded. There's a very large tree just behind it.
