I need to buy a 256MB stick of SDRAM and was wondering what the difference is between CL2 and CL3? Also, does anyone have any recommendations as to where I should buy from?

    Thanks!

as far as regular stuff goes CL (CAS) 2 RAM won't do you much good. Things like Word, Excel, blah blah blah won't benefit from that RAM. What will benefit from it is if you are a gamer. The Latency is lower (hence the 2 rating rather than the 3 ) on the CL2 SDRAM.

http://www.crucial.com is a good place to get it. It might be more expensive than the generic stuff (CRAP!) but flaky RAM can bring down your whole system. Go for the good stuff.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

Latency is the amount of time it takes to start accessing the ram. Explanation of what cas latency is
