Thread: Full Size Blazer Vs Bronco

  1. #1
Ok im looking at buying a Full Size Blazer (77-91 with the removeable roof) but i cant seem to find any for around 5,000 without them being covered in rust. So im leaning towards a bronco now, BUT I know the Blazers have a lever that shifts it in and out of 4 wheel drive. However I have heard that this is not true of the Bronco's is this true? And which do you guys prefer? Also does anyone have a Blazer and have ever taken the top off of it? how is the seal after? thanks

I really don't like the Blazers, mainly because they have approximately the same body rigidity as a wet noodle. If you try to turn in any direction when going faster than about 8 mph, the whole body groans and twists the whole way through the turn, and it likes to roll, too. I think the Broncos are a good bit better for off-road driving, but I can't tell you about the 4-wheel-drive shifter. My inclination would be to go for the Bronco, though. Just my $.02.
    Porsche. There is no substitute.

Yep. I'd say look for a 78-79 Bronco. Comes with good axles, engine, and transfer case those years.

It's one of the few vehicles in it's class that doesn't come with at least one weak component. Before or after that, there's a chance you'll get something with at least one weak link.
