Thread: network problems, need troubleshooting help.

    Ok, my new computer can see my network just fine. On my network i have a dhcp server running and my new machine is grabbing the info from it. but unlike the rest of my machines, my new one won't connect to the internet. help me. it's really pissing me off that i can't figure this out.

    hmm, it appears my server is not forwarding dns requests for that one computer. must slap server.

    if its a small home network why are you using dhcp? Personally i find it way more conveniant to set up the IP's manually.

    heh, people plug their computers into my switch all the time, i figure just set up the network for them.

    Another possibility is the computer has hosed protocols.

    I have seen it several times that everything is set up correctly, and even then it doesn't negotiate out.

    When this happens you may be able to explore from one computer to another, but not visa-versa.

    I know there is a way to simply reload that stuff, but I can't recall what it is--and reloading the OS does fix it.

    actually i fixed it when i said i needed to slap my server.

    what happened was that my dhcp server stopped stelling computers who does dns.
