    Question

I just got my Athlon 700Mhz retail processor and it comes with a heatsink clip (2) to attach onto the processor, in the manual it says it comes with 2 pins to lock the heatsink clip to the motherboard, but in the actual package there is no pins. I called ONVIA where I bought it and they told me it doesn't come with the pins and that they should come with the motherboard, now mind you I'm talking about the Heatsink clips not the Retaining clips for the processor which I know come with the motherboard. So any Athlon owners....does the retail package come with these pins or not?? Why would they say in the manual that they do??

    Thanks a lot!!

In my experience they come with the motherboard and not the chip.

Thanks guys I know that the retaining clips come with the motherboard for the processor, but these are heatsink supports that support the heatsink and in my package there are two pieces the upper clip and lower clip, then there should be two pins that secure the lower clip to the motherboard which are not present in the manual is says there should be, so people that have actually bought a retail version did it have the pins or not??

    thanks guys!!!

I don't know what kind of heatsink you got; the one I got has the clips already attached to the heatsink and you just have to manouvre them into the slots on the back of the processor, then push them in so the 'sink doesn't fall off...

When I bought my Athlon 750 Chip it did include the heatsink support WITH pins however I bought the AMD 3 year warranty kind, not the "white box" one. Also my motherboard did include the support with pins as well. BUT the way my motherboard in connection with the positioning of it in my case allows me just to put in the heatsink support; no pins are needed.
