swordfish ending.....

Ahh...sometimes I hate myself for being so slow!! I was expecting a straight out action movie so I checked my brain at the counter, and thus missed the whole storyline. Can somebody explain what exactly happened in Swordfish??

1. So what was up with the dead guy in Gabreil's winery? Who was that?

2. So Ginger wasn't actually a DEA agent right? She was just misleading Stan?

3. So Gabriel's team was actually a part of "operation swordfish," which uses terrorism to fight terrorism? So Gabriel WANTED Stan to use the missile launcher to shoot down the helicoptor, so that other terrorists would think "damn, that's what happens when you try to rob an American back!"...right? So he IS, in a way, the good guy?

4. Then why did he kill the senator?? just cause the senator tried to kill Gabriel?

5. The boat that blew up in the final scene was just another job done by Gabriel's team right? Killing Terrorists??

6. Ginger's tits looked nice and natural don't you think? probably not fake?


(wow, I've never seen a movie and remembered all the critical characters' names!! I guess it helped that one of them was mine)

That was just a body double, probably someone they had done plastic surgery on and then killed. Someone with "matching" dental records etc etc...That's the body that was planted on the helicopter and was later recovered for autopsy.

Correct...it was kind of a backup just in case, Stan was gonna try to be a hero and stop their plan. So that Stan would sympathize with her, since she's "innocent".

Operation Swordfish was just the operation used to launder drug money that J. Edgar Hoover's special unit recovered from drug lords. It's Gabriel's own plan to fight terrorism with terrorism. As for the rocket launcher part, I'm sure they figured Stan would do it. They probably did a pschye profile on him and knew what would his reactions be. It was probably not to warn terrorist because I'm sure the gov't would not let anyone know about the money.... I think the launcher was just part of their plan to misdirect.

Just because he was interfering with Gabriel's "patriotic" plan to fight terrorism with terrorism. Like he said,"You just don't see the big picture."

Correct, the head of a terrorist group that had recently committed an act of terrorism against the US.

Probably not... even though it was nice. But I didn't see why the scene was even necessary, I guess, it's one of those gratuitous nude scenes.

Jeez man...how do you figure all of that out?? Did you have to think all this through or did you just know this when you walked out of the theater? You remembered all those details with just one viewing?? You're one smart dude. Thanks for enlightening me. One last thing...so the whole stunt Gabriel pulled throughout the movie (getting moeny from the bank using Stan's hacking skills) was just to get money to carry out his other plans??

By listening carefully during the movie, and plus I have a pretty good imagination. I kinda fill in the gaps myself. ha!

Didn't really have to think it through, I guess I did pretty knew all that when I left the theater. I guess I was born with a gift to decipher bad scripting or something like that.

That is correct. Helping Stan get his daughter back was a means to an end. So you could say that Gabriel is a "good" guy even though the way he does things may not be the most ehtical. I guess he has a "Fight fire with fire" motto or something.

I did think that that may have been a possibility too..
Which would make more sense, since then they wouldn't have to "fake" dental records..... but the only flaw I found with this part of the plot was that I'm sure the coroner would be able to tell that the body has been "frozen" and that the person had been dead for quite a period of time.

I also remember in the movie that when the original hacker was caught by the Cops, he told them that Gabriel was untouchable/unstoppable (something like that) and beyond their reach. Well, it would be pretty hard to catch someone who could change their entire identity and have the body of the original person to plant if needed in such an emergency...

Excellent points. yeah, I would concur with you on this point. heheh I just took the easy way out and said they "doctored" someone else's face and switched the dental records...

well, the body looked pretty whole to me when Stan was asked to go and identify the body. I mean most of it was still there. It seemed like it had been pretty badly burnt, but if you could still make out the face, then it ain't all bad.

I still think it's a bit... hmmm... iffy. I guess I can entertain the fact that the coroner could do nothing but go on the dental records... If they had just shown like a skull or just a badly burnt corpse where you could not even recognize it from the facial features then okay.

But it was pretty apparent that it was Gabriel's face....
