Wuz up.. keep on posting those nice deals!
Just be sure to check with the restaurant BEFORE you bid on the GC to see if they will accept it. I've been waiting over a month now for a refund on a GC that was not accepted by the merchant, CitySpree signed for the certified mail on June 12 but have not a)credited my cc account or b)responded to any of the three emails I've sent regarding the credit.

You should've used the Amex blue card. then you just go on the site, and say deny charge :-)

which restaurant rejected your GC?
Trattoria Del Mare, in San Diego.
I did have several successes with the GC's, but am very unhappy (to put it mildly) with their customer service right now. I did use an Amex, and will have to go through them to get the charge reversed, but tried initially to work it out with the company. Sad, because if they had gone ahead and fixed the problem (we're talking $7.50 here, not hundreds of dollars!) I would have continued to use the site. As is, they've lost this customer.

wrkngirl:
Have you tried cityspree with any other restaurants in San Diego?
Redfish accepted with no problem. I did call in advance to verify they would accept. Would suggest that anyone who is going to bid check with restaurant FIRST to make sure they will accept it.
Taco Auctioneers & Old California Mining Company accept or/have accepted CS GC's. Still waiting to try my Gulf Coast Grill GC.

I helped you talk to them before and I told you at that time, if you still had problems, I would give you the CEO's personal number.Originally posted by wrkngirl

Email me and I will send it if you still want to go that route.

I'd also like to echo the Buyer Beware sentiment. I am in San Diego, and bid on a bunch of restaurants as I frequently dine out and always need a reason to try new places. One of the restaurants I bid on "La Jolla Seafood Company" has apparently been out of business for a month now. As previously reported the company does not respond to email messages.

Suddenly their auctions have tripled in price (they are now 30% of face value)
Perhaps it is just a marketing test or perhaps they are desperate for money.
Just be aware (I also haven't received a certificate I paid for 2.5 weeks ago)

Wow! When I just checked CitySpree for Denver, all the auctions had starting bids of just 10%!!
At that price (plus another $2 for shipping), I can accept a fairly high failure rate and still consider this a deal!
I also noticed that the bids went up to 30% but they are back down to 10% now.
I won a bid at Cass St Bar & Grill in San Diego. Hope it comes.
cass street bar and grill is EXCELLENT too!! ('but no one under 21 is allowed 'cause they don't have a "restraunt" section.) They said they have an aggreement with the restraunt next door that its ok to buy your food from cass street and take it next door to eat on their patio so its still enjoyable and a good deal.
