ATA100 - How do you know?

So I installed the VIA 4 in 1 drivers so that I'd be running ATA100 on a Win 98 machine, question is, how do I know it worked and that I'm really running ATA100? It's not my computer so I can't really tell if its faster...

Is there a small program that will tell you what your hd is running at? I was also thinking about trying it on my xp machine to see if xp supports it, but again, no way to know if it really works that I know of...

If your motherboard can't handle ATA100, then youre not gonna be running at ATA100, you can't just update teh VIA drivers. It should say when you are booting up the computer it usually shows the devices attached and like ATA33 or ATA66 next to them. Look closely.

To clarify...

My motherboard is an Abit KT7-A. It can handle the drivers, and my hard drive can too, and I'm using the 80 conductor cable. I thought the big thing is the OS drivers, which I'm looking for a way to tell if the OS is using the faster bus speed.

try doing some benchmarks?
sisoft sandra's trial version can be downloaded for free, and hd tests can be run on that..
gives you the transfer rate of your hd's..
of course it's not gonna say 100mb/s or 99mb/s but just look around some hardware reviews, and compare to similar setups...
