well i'm looking into getting a new car and the commercial caught my eye

    http://www.c-coupe.com

i really like how it looks and i like the idea of a supercharged 6spd 4cyl..puts out 190hp stock. does anyone know anything about this car? what about tuning a kompressor engine? i have a vw now and it's fairly well tuned...and the next car i get will definitely be tunable. but i'm having trouble finding info on tuning MBs...any advice?

reply with your thoughts on the car as well.

I think it looks like a souped up corrada from the back. Not good.

That, and MB's are notoriosly lightly equipped for the money.

[edit]Corrada? What the hell is that? I think I meant corrado, you know, that VW from the mid-90's that had the moveable rear spoiler? Yeah, that ugly thing.

Thumbs down on the rear-end, otherwise a decent-looking car. But MBs are notoriously tricky to tune, because of all the engine-management that goes into them. Basically, it's not that it's not possible, it's just more expensive than a comparably-priced Bimmer or something. Wait 'til the AMG version comes out would be my advice...

Hmm, crap, except those AMG morons only put automatics in their cars. Did anybody see that article in C+D with the fairly sweet AMG SLK 32? With 350 hp and a freakin' auto trans? Blahhhh...

The C coupe starts around $25,900. In order to have it decently equipped, expect to spend around $30k. Also, due to the mad cow disease, there is a shortage in leather right now so MB decided the C coupe should go without leather until they can get back up to normal levels. The first MB with cloth *shudder*. As for the AMG models, they have finally hit US soil. Ice-9 doesn't like them because they are automatic, but they still have excellent performance numbers. The C32 and the SLK32 are running under 5 seconds in the 0-60. Oh yeah, this car will not come out as an AMG model.

    only wimps/woosies drive automatics....

well, ill rephrase... only wimps/woosies drive automatic "sports cars".... i put that in quotes cause there isn't such a thing as an "automatic sports car". If its auto, it aint a GENUINE sports car.

i'd stay away from 4cyl. engines. yeah the specs are OK with 190hp but thats kinda pushing it on a 4cyl. Ever consider a BMW?

well, i've been pricing BMW 330 coupes and by the time i'm happy with the options we're looking at close to 40...and i know me, i'd be afraid to touch it (tuning wise). maybe i'll just stick to my original plan, keep the jetta and grab a supra turbo and tune the hell out of it.

my girlfriend likes the c-coupe, so maybe i'll talk her into trading in her xterra and buying one. that way any desire i had for that car can be fulfilled vicariously through her.

yeah...i need to be true to my passion...buy something i won't be afraid to throw up on jack stands and mess with.

as for the AMG automatic thang...i never knew that. man, what a waste...that's very unfortunate.

Don't you start with me, too, hapoo! Have you ever even driven a Porsche?

And 190 hp on a 4-cylinder certainly isn't unheard of - the Integra Type R comes to mind, as do the 944S2 and the 968 - all of those make at least 190, and are reasonably reliable. And there have been engines made that'll push 1200 horses on 4 cylinders... not that you'd want them in a road car, especially without the 8-man crew that goes along with them, but still. 190 doesn't seem so big, huh?

yeah 190 from a 4cyl isn't such a big deal...especially since it's supercharged. S2000 and Integra TypeR push 200 normally aspirated. take a look at the WRX and the upcoming Lancer EVO, both turbo 4cyls pushing over 225.

the first m3's had a 4cyl 192hp engine... i'm not saying its not possible. Just think its better to have a nice 6cyl.

Heh, yeah, I didn't even know the C-coupe was supercharged. In that case, it's really nothing special - the 944 Turbo S can push 300 on a 2.5L turboed 4.

Sorry, you know me, just had to pimp the Porsche.

Payin alot for the name but the back has got to go. You could probably get something nicer for the $$ you will spend on that.
