Wow.. now we are really getting girlie!

I don't get PMS for some reason.. or I guess when I do get real mad or whatever I just hold it in well. Or I just give everyone the cold shoulder.. LoL.. I guess that does make me a bit moody sometimes...

I hope I broke the ice for all those girls looking at this post and saying "No way in hell I'm admitting to my PMS"

Dunno what you're talking about ... I don't get PMS, ever. What, you don't believe me? Do I look like a liar to you?? WHY IS EVERYONE LOOKING AT ME FUNNY???

(On a serious note ... I'll either see "Hi honey" as fighting words, or I'll just wanna be left alone so I can curl up and sleep.)

I have all sorts of odd hormonal imbalances (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which causes random problems. Before I got somewhat regulated, I was having emotional swings like 3 days out of every week, but I wasn't getting my period. It was horrible. Now I'm all kinds of meds and I very rarely have PMS. Its nice.

luckily for me, PCOS doesn't actually involve any cysts. That would be painful. Basically there is hormonal imbalance that causes many other problems. Its one of the leading causes of infertility in women. There are a lot of other effects/symptoms like obesity, insulin resistance, abnormal hair growth, lack of periods. Sadly a lot of doctors overlook the symptoms or just write them off. I went to three different doctors before I found someone who could actually help me. The first doctor I went to, who had been my doctor for over a year, didn't believe me that I wasn't pregnant. That annoyed me. Heres a really informative article if you want more info:

makes me remember this old joke - too true!!

Q: How many women with PMS does it take to screw in a light bulb?

A: One. ONE!! And do you know WHY it only takes ONE? Because no one else in
this house knows HOW to change a light bulb. They don't even know the bulb is
BURNED OUT. They would sit in this house in the dark for THREE DAYS before
they figured it OUT. And once they figured it out they wouldn't be able to
find the light bulbs despite the fact that they've been in the SAME CUPBOARD
for the past SEVENTEEN YEARS. But if they did, by some miracle, actually find
the light bulbs, TWO DAYS LATER the chair that they dragged from two rooms
over to stand on to change the STUPID light bulb would STILL BE IN THE SAME
SPOT!! AND UNDERNEATH IT WOULD BE THE CRUMPLED WRAPPER THE STUPID @*!#$%
LIGHT BULBS CAME IN! WHY?! BECAUSE NO ONE IN THIS HOUSE EVER CARRIES OUT THE
GARBAGE!! IT'S A WONDER WE HAVEN'T ALL SUFFOCATED FROM THE PILES OF GARBAGE
THAT ARE 12 FEET DEEP THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE. THE HOUSE!! IT WOULD TAKE
    AN ARMY
    TO CLEAN THIS...

    I'm sorry...what was the question?

Oh SB you just had me cracking up! That was hysterical!

Now, to answer the question, my PMS was never bad that I knew of until my new (almost celebrating 4 months together) boyfriend and I were on a road trip a couple of weeks ago (PMS time) and he said "why are you being so nasty to me? What did I do?" and I kept saying that I wasnt being nasty. His thing was that everything he was saying I came right back with an immediate correction. A few days later, my friend arrives and all is well. Now he will actually be celebrating when it comes!

i dont mean to be rude and drop in, but i have a legit question...

I've always been curious to know, why, if a woman realizes shes having her peroid, that she doesnt be really extra carefull not to be "bitchy" and such?

Now, i may have an answer to my own question (kinda) but im still curious. Also, my dad has VERY bad food alergies, that do to him what i believe a period can do to you ladies. When he eats something like Beef or reed food coloring, or Strawberries, a day later, hes completely un-approachable, anything you do is wrong, hes always right, always has to have the last word, and he blows up over the silliest things (like that lightbulb joke above), and become completely unreasonable.

After this wore off in a few days, we would talk to him about his actions, and he would either not remember, or not realize what he had done and how he had acted. A few times he would realize he was being "bitchy" and warn us he was getting that way so we could be really carefull in how we talked to him.

For him, it was hard to tell when exactly he was going to be affected by a particular food, so it was impossible for us to tell him he was that way WHILE he was that way (he would deny it and say he was JUST fine). But, i think ladies can pretty much tell when they're gonna start being "bitchy", so thats why i ask my question...

    (did that make any sense?)

    Thanks - Nano.

You know actually, guys do have something like PMS, not mestruation. But once in a while, guys get really moody for no reason.

Mine came a week early this month and I'm not sure the emotions are crazy this month but until tonight, the cramps the last couple of days have been awful. I mean, really, really, really bad. Worse than they have been before. Don't know. Very strange.

    just wondering about something....
i know that like in a dorm when a bunch of women live together, the hormones?pheromones? make it so that they are synchronized.

would that happen across the campus, ie. even if the women lived in separate dorms? meaning, would one dorm of girls all be sync'ed to one week and another to a dif week? or would all the women across campus be sync'ed?

me gots it too. best cure in the world is a good diet. i used to have about two or three periods a year, etc, but then did a lot of journal reading to pick the best course of action, and within a month of starting my diet, i was completely regular - complete with cramps and pms, which i had never had before.

so what meds are you on? prolactin and the pill? do they have you on choleterol drugs?

oh, and the cysts aren't painful... the cysts themselves are normal, your body picks a cyst every month to mature and then explode, sending out an egg, and with pcos, the cyst never fully matures, and then the next month another one starts, and they just kinda build up, hence the "poly" in pcos. (and if you're rolling your eyes cuz you already know all this, i apologize, just kick me til i shuddup...)

i think that's one o those things that just works a little bit, it's not like flippin a switch... i think you have to have a lot of very close contact, and maybe even not a lot of contact with other women, and it doesn't work every time...

A campus of women screaming at you for an entire week? Scary. Imagine, a national state of emergency caused by ... a maxi-pad shortage!

Like welfare says, the sychronization bit *DOES* occur, but it's by no means set in stone. I've heard of some extreme cases on both ends of the spectrum ... one of my friend's hormones were SO strong that she caused her roommate to have two periods in one month ... once on her own, and the second time in sync with hers. On the other hand, I lived with one roomie for two years, and we were never in sync (she was a complete idiot, but that's irrelevant).

    So umm ... go figure.

    Nano,

For some reason, even though I own a calendar and am "regular" as hell. I still am taken by surprise by raging PMS. I don't realize I am even in a "mood" until my husband and dog go into hiding... But I have to take out my rage on someone, so I hunt them down and make them pay!

It does not usually click, that maybe it is a PMS thing until I am the middle of a homicidal rage for no reason. I am 33 and my hormones are raging...

i'm actually only on gluchophage, which was helping with the periods and the insulin resistance, but it has ceased to be helpful. i need to go back to my doctor.

i know i should alter my diet, and i keep telling myself i'm going to but i have yet to find the will power to cut out a lot of the carbohydrates.

i have two different friends who have cysts that are extremely painful! they've both ended up in the hospital at different times due to the pain.

i'll be nice and won't kick you.

quick question, what kinda deal is this? Just curious. I was checking to see what you ladies had, and this was at the top. in my mind, cramping isn't any sort of a deal.

ribitch, this isn't where we post our deals. We have www.girlsgotdeals.com which has a deal page. We post in the GA forums deals we find.

    being an clueless GUY

way back when... (now i'm all good )

In highschool, I had 1 steady girlfriend, and we spent LOTS fo time together...
So, you figure u spend enough time together....I should be able to pick up on her pms and whatnot...
    Never did of course....

well, with those cramps and what not, I remember one instance, when she said her stomach hurt....my natural response was, go to the bathroom and let it go (works for me).
    moment of silence....
    her response...."it's not those pains"
    awkward silence.....
my response "so, u got any homework to do?"

    he he he...
