I just tracked down what appeared to be Anne Stantons home number and spoke to her regarding my un-usable GC's.. She said I could either send them back to her, for a refund, or hold onto them as the company is undergoing major changes.. It appears they filed chapter 11 in March, and in mid-september they will be bought out by another agency and will be re-vamping the whole cityspree.com system.. At this point they will contact all the merchants, and get things back up and running as well as introduce new merchants.. I don't know if it's best to hold onto these really good prices GC's and hope when they are taken over that they will be honored, or try to send them back in the midst of all of this turmoil? What do you think guys?
    .. show me the deals!

I would file a claim with your credit card company. This way, if they become toilet paper, you won't have to pay. If things turn around and they make good, just cancel the claim.

if the debit card has a mc or visa logo, you're fine. just call the 800/888 number that should be on the back of your card, they'll send you the paperwork.

If it has a Visa or Mastercard symbol on it you are afforded nearly the same chargeback priveleges of a regular credit card. Call your bank and let them know and they can let you know the proper procedures for disputing the charges.

If someone gets some official information, would you post it? I made a reservation last week at a restaurant which I had bought the cityspree g.c in April. I travelled over 20 miles and they had a note on the front door that they will not honor them. I spoke to the owner who claimed that cityspree wasn't a very honest merchant to deal with. I haven't tried any of the other restaurants yet, but I have a feeling I will be hearing the same thing.
Wouldn't a credit card charge dating back to April be too old to dispute?

You usually have 60 days from the day the bill was mailing to you.

By the way, I tried to return some of the worthless certificates that I have on hand, I used the address on the CitySpree site, and they were returned to me by the post office as return to sender, undeliverable " no forwarding address". Can you please email me with her phone number?

Call the merchant before you bid at City Spree and confirm if they will honor the GC (speak with a manager, and keep track of the contact). Call again before you go to use it. This should prevent any embarassing situations.
