The stuff is addictive as hell, but really expensive. Anyone know hpw to make it without a big kettle?

    Try this

    KETTLE KORN
    3tbls oil
    3tbls sugar
    1/2tsp salt
    1/3cup popcorn
heat oil sugar salt until hot. add popcorn and stir until start to pop, cover and shake until popping almost stops, remove from heat and enjoy!!!!

There are several recipies out there. This was the first I found.

    also good:

german popcorn: oil, sugar and paprika

there is a brand called reese's that makes a butter-flavored oil - use that, and then cheese-flavored sprinkles by molly mcbutter.

if you've never made stovetop popcorn... medium heat. cover the pan with oil about 1/8-1/4 inch of oil, when it starts to smoke (just a LITTLE bit) pour in enough popcorn that it is just covered by the oil., slap on the lid and start shaking vigorously in a circular motion parallel to the stove surface, with the occasional perpendicular shake. stop when popping has slowed to less than one pop per second (kinda like with microwave popcorn.)

adding sugar to the oil before cooking sounds like a good way to burn it, but i've never tried it before...

You know, that's sad! I bet there are people who think that the only way to pop popcorn is in a microwave!

When I was really little, like maybe 3 years old, I was always facinated by the air popper that my grandmother used to make popcorn. Because I was so young at the time, my grandmother had a portable toddler's toilet that she had me use instead of the big toilet. While she was making popcorn once, I had to go to tbe bathroom but I insisted that she bring the toilet into the kitchen so that I could continue to watch the flying popcorn. So there I sat, in the middle of her kitchen, relieving myself. My mom took a picture of the scene, so to this day she still brings that out to pester me.

air popped popcorn is the bomb. i eat it at least once a week, usually more. and i've only made popcorn on a stove once, and it was when we were making garland for our christmas tree & i didn't have an air popper.

    mmmm, popcorn.
i'd rather be down the shore
OH SNAP! guess where I am?

I was living down the jersey shore before Jersey Shore.

How does anyone even watch that show???

man, that's bass-ackwards. oil-drenched popcorn is da bomb... and air-popped is only good for non-greasy garlands.

i do have an air popper, but when i use it, i always spray the popcorn thoroughly with that fake spray butter stuff so the toppings have something to stick to.
