If your network admins are doing their job correctly, only necessary ports are open. In order to use an app like Bear Share, Kazaa, or whatever, a port will need to be opened on the firewall. Unless you have some dirt on someone, I doubt this'll happen.

i use it at work and have no problems. one thing i did find...when you do an install...it puts the program called "savenow" on your system. when you surf the internet...at certain places it gets triggered to pop-up an ad. it's really anoyying...sucks that they don't even ask you if you want it...they just put it in there.

Kind of funny how we found it...i was working...and the ad for SKECHERS USA popped up with a coupon code. I wouldn't have thought twice if it were any other ad...but the fact that I work here at SKECHERS as a web developer!...I thought to myself...I never made that banner...we didn't give anyone permission to use this...this is ugly!

It was funny...our web team searched it out...and ended up here at bearshare...
just thought i'd let you all know...

I would recommend using WinMX... same file swap capabilities, uses the open nap protocol, so if you've ever used Napster before it became Crapster, you'll know how to use it. When you set up, you can run it behind a strict firewall (i.e. one where you have no 'juice'). Voila!

Everyone should run Morpheus ...I swear it's the next scour exchange and it's just as fast if not faster than Napster was. go to www.musiccity.com and download it. You'll love it garaunteed.
