i see where youre coming from melon. Of course you can make the kids do laps for being morons... but not the parents (well maybe a concept for next season eh?).

Any word on my mascot suggestion? (hey i was serious bout that ya know )

BTW, (reguarding your sig) are you a guy or girl?

Alot of them think because they all play on travel clubs and winter indoor leagues that this is just someplace they can come and horse around at and not be serious-but some kids have only this-because they can't afford the other leagues and that makes me NUTZ. I can't stand SPOILED KIDS YUK. This league is the worst. See what I mean.
well if they are b*llsh*tting around than just make em run laps?

uh...I'm not trying to pick fights here...but they ARE kids, right?

what kind of bullsh*tting are we talking about? The catholic leagues are SUPPOSED to be about fun, right?

I've had Nazi coaches before in grade school. I hated it despite how well behaved I was. I guess I just don't understand what these kids could be doing that would drive you this nuts.

Am I the only who keeps thinking: DAMN! I really need to join that class just so I can get some of OB's... uh... laps.

Although I don't think that's what she really meant.

it hurts when getting kicked in the groin! even for girls! (from personal experience, i know. :hoboy: )

  18. #18
i do, too.. but girls don't wear "cups" ... i have heard of groin protectors for women, but there's no need for em to have a cup...

OB, where do you coach? I only ask cause my moms family is from texas and my cousins went to a private catholic school in the dallas suburban area called st patricks.

It gets weirder cause my cousin played soccer (i dunno if it was for the school) and he was in that age group... maybe one of the brats on your team... hehehe.

Do you coach in the dallas area? or is it a coincidence (sp?)

I have a friend that coached 3 teams last year. All three went to regonals. His secret? Laps, laps, and more laps.
His kids always won double headers because they had the stamina to keep going while the other team was flagging.

So make them run more laps. To remind them that they are a team, certain offenses, like ball hogging, should be punished by team laps.

    wouldn't a chocolate lab melt?
or wouldn't it all melt after u used burners?

    hehe get it?? it's hilarious

(I know this is a dead post, but I've been sick recently and haven't been able to check in)

I was trying to be nice about things...

I sure hope you don't think every Catholic meets this standard. I'm a devout Catholic, from "Little Rome" (St. Louis). Our Catholic leagues here are NOTHING like what you are describing...and I played in those leagues for 11 years. Some parishes are wealthier than others. Some Catholic schools are wealthier than others. But that works with everything in this country. I can name off quite a few public schools with the same rep, with very LOW Catholic representation. I try real hard not to generalize any specific group of people, so please show me the same respect and don't generalize Catholics like this...you just MIGHT turn into that dreaded Nazi Coach...

Missed this thread first time through

I used to coach a 9-11 squad when I was in high school (yes people once trusted me with their kids, imagine that?). At 11 and 12 they start getting tough, I know. I was young and playing lots of soccer then, though, so I seemed like less of a parent, which helped I'm sure. Plus, I was partnered with my friend, who was also playing. We could always "good cop, bad cop" the ones who acted up. I was the bad cop, naturally. If you can get a younger role model they can more easily relate to, it could be halpful. Are there any older aged groups?
