Reason #10,739,047 NYC is the best city in the world

So I hop on the subway today to head down to work. As I look around me, who do I see? None other than the greatest captain in all of sports and his new project . . . Mark Messier and Eric Lindros.
I used to be into sadism, necrophilia and beastiality, but then I realized I was just beating a dead horse

WOW. I would pay to have been you at that point. What did you do? Did you talk to them?

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA this make me laugh because I've known Mark Messier since before he was famous. His brother Paul and I were good friends since the early eighties, unfortunately I've lost touch the past few years. Paul Messier and his roomate Vince Magnan (who both played for the WHALERS AHL league in upstate NY)used to live in the apt next door to my brother. Mark used to come down to visit them constantly. I believe he was just out of high school at the time. I used to feed these guys. I laugh everytime I see him on TV. Mark is a pretty funny guy. The three of them (paul, vince and mark used to clown around to the point of being stupid). Mark is a bigshot now. poopoo. Fame has gone to his head.

I guess you're just cooler than all of us 'melon. I'd still lke to meet them both.

Oh, wouldn't you think that rich players would take a cab? Maybe the mess in NY has f'ed up the streets, I have no idea since I'm in LA. I think it's cool that they rode the subway.

Traffic in NY is crazy, they just opened 2 lanes on Brooklyn Brigde today yet it is still crazy.

Kenas isn't it only for emergency vehicles?
And if it's not you owe me a ride.

In any kase Messier is cool, lindros should get kicked in the bottom (of his lip) a couple of times. But what train was it, i think i should change my morning commute

Oh comeon..COOL? LOLOL I've been cool longer than that guy has been tying his own shoe.NO wait..I've been cool longer than the word COOL was even around..isnt it amazing who people know irl and the stories they can tell. Just remember-they may be rich now, but they used to be regular guys. Under all that cash he's just a regular guy. Money doesn't make the man. It's how they treat their mommy's that count the most

Sorry dude, the two lanes in BB is only open to get to the FDR North. The third one is for the emergency. But interesting thing, is that it is closed from Manhattan to BK. So that is no way you will be getting rides from me.

I was on the 1/9 line - I assume they were on the way down to the Garden.

When I saw them, I didn't do anything. I'm sure they would not have wanted attention drawn to them. Plus, it's not really something I do. If anything, I probably would have just said, "Have a great season" as I passed by.

And Oblong, you are correct. They are normal guys just like everything else. Money does not make them. However, Messier has performed at a level on the ice and in the locker room that has without a doubt earned my respect. There are few athletes I respect for anything beyond their playing ability, but Messier is one of them. That man is a born leader.

I frankly couldn't care less about Lindros (Maybe I will start caring if he actually plays up to his potential this year), but I don't know if I would have realized it actually WAS Messier if Lindros hadn't been there. Messier was wearing sunglasses (on the subway) and a hat. When I first saw him, I thought to myself "I bet that guy gets told he looks a lot like Mark Messier all the time." Then I looked next to him and saw Lindros, and of course put two and two together . . .

I was actually quite surprised how...well, small Mess was in real life. Played a little golf with him when he played in Vancouver. But Lindros...jebus. He was in town when they were training for the old World Cup of Hockey (like, '96?). That is one huge, bad man. I cannot fathom the trembling mound of fear I'd turn into if I saw that guy coming at me.

Oh, crap, I wet my pants again.

Paul Messier is actually bigger than mark. But when they are all padded up with skates-they all look ominous.

You could actually reconise somebody, I used look into peoples faces before, just to see something interesting in them, but now, i stoped. I don't think i would reconise anybody, no matter how famous he could be. Unless they are really stending out. Plus I don't think I would recognise Lindros, since I don't remember his face with out the helmet.

I am pleasently surprised to see a few hockey lovers in this thread. There are not that many I know. Baseball, Football, and especially Basketball seems to be more popular. Here in NY, people are not much into hockey. I can understand them NYRangers suck, but the game it just to damn beautiful!!!
