I am trying REALLY hard not to say something I'll regret here. Where in the HELL did I abuse my G|A powers? I was NOT posting as an employee of G|A. I was posting as a female member of this forum and as a female trying to get my point across. If I had wanted to abuse my so called "powers" then I would have just started deleting posts of people I didn't agree with or was upset with, such as Kenas or whoever. ???


Now I "generally" try to be reasonable on this forum and I do understand what you were trying to point out, but c'mon... you can't just force subjects like that down people's throats. Honestly, I do expect more than that from you and I am kinda disappointed that you stooped to that level (Heh... like my "dissapointment" really means anything huh?)

No, you don't have to stay out of the GGD section. We would love for you guys to come in there! Just realize that there may be a chance that one of use might post something like that in there and we expect NOT to be crapped on or trolled or whatever. Does that make sense?

Look guys, it's not an issue of gender. It's an issue with me and the other women (some of them) feeling comfortable posting sensitive topics in Off Topic because they are afraid the guys will make fun of them or crap or troll. (Take the Sobe bra thing - you guys all thought that was hysterical, and that is all well and good. But to chrissy and some of the other women, I bet it wasn't as funny...)

several ppl have been saying they don't see why a place like girls got deal even needs to exist. jenny illustrated the point by posting, in g|a OT, a thread about a female problem that grossed out some of the guys. the guys pretty much agree that they would rather not see that kind of stuff in OT. some of the guys were extrememly offended. Yesterday, (& over the course of the last several weeks and months), a number of male members of Got|Apex? stated that they didn't understand why GirlsGotDeals was created. They essentially said that there was nothing that we could discuss at GGD that could NOT be discussed in Off Topic. While we appreciate the sentiment of that point of view, we also knew that wouldn't work. I stated that several times previously and it was not being understood.

To illustrate my point and eliminate any gray area, I created that thread. To say the least, the reaction from most of the guys was what I expected. I then deleted the post because once I saw the direction the thread was taking, I felt my point had been made and the thread had served its purpose. Also, let me reiterate something I said not only in that post but since then, this was something that actually happened to me several years ago, not something I made up to gross people out. This is one of the kinds of things women often talk about but it is perfectly understandable that guys don't care to talk about it or similar topics.

That was my whole point. Granted, it may have been a sledge-hammer tactic, but pussyfooting around wasn't working. Now, I think the point of having GirlsGotDeals is clear. I know that some of you had problems with the bluntness of the content of my post, but some of you people can be really freaking dense - which is totally understandable because GA is a diverse community, so there will be many, many different opinions and tolerance levels.

Some of you have stated your concern about me using my 'admin powers' (for lack of a better phrase) to post that. If I had not had the ability to delete my post after my point had been made, then I would not have created that thread in the first place. Yes, being an admin has it's upside (getting to hear the really good deals ahead of times sometimes! ), but it doesn't give me the right to do what I want without consequences. I have had many posts taken down, edited, pictures deleted, or whatever, just sometimes not publically.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding about my intentions with that post and with why we think GGD is necessary.

And believe me, you guys are all always, ALWAYS welcome at GirlsGotDeals. Just please remember that you may run across threads like that that make you uncomfortable. We won't post things like that to do that. But that is why we won't post them in Off Topic, because you guys really don't want to see it. Please continue to visit the site, give us some ideas and some help (we could use it! ), praise us, critisize us, etc. We would appreciate it.
