Its a good bet our military has studied what happened to the Soviets in Afghanistan.

i think the govt has made contingency plans about going into afghanistan, learning from vietnam and what happened to the russians with the afghans. i just hope they learned well enough to cover their butts - its the lives of tens of thousands of US soldiers on the line, not just the redemption of the lives lost in the tragedy...

Yea but they have captured weapons, like ground to air units, AK47's, mortars, etc... trust me they have plenty of weapons... and these people use knives like you wouldn't believe
