    Awe inspiring examples of Architecture...

Whats your most favorite example of architcture.

You can choose anything from any time...

A few of my favorite places has to be.... The Palace at Versaille

    and The Flat Iron Building.

The Castle at Versailles is a great example of Classical architecture in France...Athough the inside is mainly Baroque decoration...the outside facade commands respect from its onlookers.

The Flat Iron Building has been a passion of mine since the first time I saw a picture of it...It was the first sky scraper in NY, and is a beautiful building to look at...I think you'll agree...

I think the originator of the thread was referring to the building in the background, not the statue in the foreground.

I work in Aurora and there are a number of developments going on in the area. I just wondered if that was in one of them.

If you look at the info under my name, you'll notice that I am in the Chicago area. Does that give you a hint: I know that there is also an Aurora that is a south burb of Denver.

mont saint michel. it's cool cuz the water comes in right up to the city walls at night, and it gets really misty, so it looks like you're on an island in the middle of the ocean, and then the mist burns off and the water recedes in the morning, and the sheep go out and graze...

I think Fallingwater is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Its actually cantilevered out over a waterfall.

    here's some cool pictures

Besides that, though I'm not much of an architecture freak....I remmeber being fascinated by a house that was made out of wood, using no metal (i e nails, bolts) - so it was done by joints (but wasn't a log cabin type of thing either - it looked like they were popsicle sticks!!!)
and it was 2 floors...so, even the stairs were supported by wood and stuffs...
I thought that was pretty cool

most of my relatives are architects... and they all say that falling water is falling down - apparently some fairly major design flaws, and it takes a lot of money and effort to keep it together. i don't know if it's true or not, tho.

I think I like the waterfall better without the architecture.

they are doing major repairs to try to keep it from falling.

    Great places guys.

I've actually been to the Palace of Versailles (sp?) and Venice myself (I think it was just before or after the carnival however). Both were very very amazing places for sure.

i have always wanted to have a waterfall outside my window... i think this stems from some dimly remembered fantasy story about a waterfall and fairies... i forget.

which brings me back to my original point. as soon as i make some money i'm moving to iceland...

I have some friends that lived there for a few years. Sounds like a pretty rough place to live.
