I hear that stuff is becoming popular in South Africa, where the poo has been hitting the fan for some time now. You can even get a flame thrower device mounted. Keeps the nasty carjackers at bay.

Anyone here ever play Car Wars?

I saw a better one in a magazine they had a whole story about it it's also a truck, but it had nifty gadgets like it was electrified, and it had a nerv paralizing gas shooter on the drivers side, so if you are in a car and someone is trying to get you just push a button and they are paralized, it had oil in the back bumper, and another compartment contained nails. The whole car was bullet proof... that was a very nifty truck... except it was meant only for miltary and cost an enourmous ammount of money... i can only immagine having of those things...

a coupla friends o mine - one is an automotive engineer, the other a ceramics engineer (she works for a toilet-maker ) invented a stealth car bra - it scatters the signals of those thingys cops use to clock you, so they can't get a reading. they have made a coupla car bras with this stuff, and apparently it works well.

Unless they did this some time ago, I doubt that they can claim to have invented this. I remember reading in Car & Driver about "radar absorbing bras" (hmm, that sounds questionable!) probably 20 years ago. Car & Driver was VERY big on the radar detector / evasion technology. They did find that it lessened the effective range of the radar. However, at the end of the article they said that every visible portion of the vehicle (including the driver) would have to be covered with the material in order to achieve true "stealth" status.

yeah, i knew it had already been done, but they came up with a new material or technique or somethin... i dunno, i tend to zone out whenever technical matters of any kind are up for discussion...
