Certain words are very hard to spell. Words such as "hallelujah". I can't spell it without a spellcheck or dictionary for the life of me. What other words are tough for ya' to spell?

Can't think of any. Spelling is one of the things in school I was (and am) actually really good at.

Spelling is one thing. Typos are another. There are a few words I have to check myself on, though. Definitely (instead of definately, which someone in here said is a male characteristic) is one in particular.

I don't know but I hate it when someone misspells something and you try to correct them and end up messing a word up.
I think words like "hallelujah" are harder to spell because they come from different linquistic origins than English. Of course, English being such a messed up language (as far as being able to spell things like they sound) makes things harder, too. I remember in German that if you know how something sounds you can almost always spell it.

I wish the forums had a spell check so I wouldn’t look like an idiot mispelling words all the time (See what I mean)
Birthday is hard for me to type. For some reason 9 out of 10 times it ends up being birhtday. I guess my fingers work faster than my brain.

In Massachusetts there is a lake Chogoggagoggmanchoggagoggchabunagungamogg. Its the longest named landmark in the country, I believe.
Its Native American, of course. It translates to, "We fish on our side of the lake, you fish on your side, and no one fishes in the middle."
Its also been nicknamed Lake Webster for simplicity's sake.
Common sense is what tells you the Earth is flat.
I don't usually have that much trouble with spelling. I do however often mix up the E's and I's in words where they appear adjacent to each other.

i on the otherhand, pretty much misspells teh whole english language.
... except when you have to write a paper about people with the last name Teh. THEN it's a pain. If I remove "teh --> the" from my auto-correct, then I have to worry about all of the times that "teh" is actually a typo!Originally posted by Markel

Hannakah. That's my word. I don't know how to spell it, and every time I have to use it I have to look it up or ask someone..maybe it's because I've seen it spelled so many different ways (I'm not even sure If I spelled it right this time!)...I've even seen it spelled with a CH in the beginning...
anything from french. bastids. 12 vowels in row just ain't necessary.
