Thread: need help networking winXP with Win2k

    A little off of what you were saying, Choosen, but not much...

    a friend was telling me about a program that allows you to track the computers(and i.p. addresses)that try and access your network/computer while online. Do you know what this is or where I might find it?

    yeah, thanks chosen... I think that ZoneAlarm is the program I was thinking of... but if I get XP... it really won't matter, hehe...

    actually chosen, you didn't need netbeui. Chances are you just had a funky admin setting under XP. XP has some strange defaults for networking when its loaded up, like requireing passwords for shared drives when no password has actually been setup. You probably only need to chance some access rights to guest class, and disable some protections.

    I mean, last night we were networking ME, 2K and XP machines, and had zero issues. Neither2k or XP were using Netbeui, so THAT might have been your problem, the fact that 2K had it loaded.
