well if you havent gotten a moving vilation in the last 18 months you can go to traffic school and pay some fines and it will be erased from the DMV and your parents never have to know

Sorry.. but I don't think there is a way out of it. But you can attend traffic school like stated before and try to pick up the mail everyday. Takes about 10 days to arrive

Yo Leemaj check it out. I have gotten out of several tickets this way. When you go to court, plead not guilty and ask for "Trial by Declaration". You can get away with this if you say that you are a student and cannot miss school to meet another court appointment.
This basically allows you to put your case together on paper, and send it in before the deadline. The judge should let you do this no sweat.

Then, you will have like a month to put together infomation to send in on your behalf. You will have to put together a cover letter explaining your side of the story (how he might have clocked someone else and thought it was you, how faulty radar detectors are, how the officer couldn't have clocked you correctly because he had his hands full with donuts, etc.) and add supporting evidence as well. If there is any little discrepency on the ticket, like the color of your car or something, you can use that to your advantage. I got out of a ticket one time because the ticket said my car was brown(it's technically gold) and I was able to argue that he mistook me for someone else.

I have gotten out of 3 or 4 tickets this way. Of course, I was innocent in all 3 cases so it's a good thing If you are having trouble putting together your case, watch Matlock a couple of times. Good luck.

now this is my cup of tea

i've had a number of tickets over a span of like 2 years...needless to say, i don't have any insurance companies knocking on my door with reduced rates.

so here's what you do...plead innocent.

hopefully the cop doesn't show up to court, you walk. that hardly ever happens though. get a lawyer. if you know one that'll do it for free...awesome...local law school? go there...post a sign. i had a violation for 70 in a 45...had my family's real estate lawyer call the cop talk about the situation (make something up...late for class, in a hrury to meet up with your sad girl...something) and before we even made it to court, i already had 2 points shaved off of the violation.

get to court...i plead my case, no points...but it's still on my record. which is good another point or two and i would have lost my license for a month.

    hope this helps...

You can request evidence from the court house and/or the police station. Ask them for a copy of the officers training certificate for hte radar gun. Ask for a copy of the radar gun calibration certificate. THey bot have to be updated every so oftn. If they can't produce those two, you can argue that they failed to produce proof of accuracy and can't back of the claim that you were accurately measured speeding.

Also, another good trick in California is to move your court date repeatedly. I think you're allowed to have 3 dates (so you can move it twice). Set a court date and ask when isthe latest you can change the court date if something should arise. Then as close to that deadline change the court date. Ask again if you nee dto change it, when's the lastest. Change it again as close to the new cut off time. Chances are that the cop will be sick of the run-around BS and not show up. My freind got out of one this way. His girlfriend got out of 2 this way. Good luck.

If worse comes to worse, do online traffic school at one of the online ones approved by your county. THey're cake. I did webtrafficschool.com in about and hour.

If you don't end up fighting it...

It may be worth the time to actually go to court and request traffic school in front of a judge. Some places give you the choice of either mailing in the payment (with a letter asking for traffic school) or actually going to court for the arraignment. While it's definitely easier to mail it in, there is an advantage to going to court to pay. As an incentive to get you to plead guilty, judges (at least the 4 that I've seen) will almost always drop part of the fine if you do so. It is usually somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the total bail amount. I've only done this in the LA/OC so I don't know if would work in SD, but it may be worth a try.
