I just went to see Iron Monkey for the second time, and taking advantage of the 2 for 1 deal at United Artists Theaters, I was also able to see the new movie, Joy Ride. From the preview I was expecting another "Scream if you still know what a bunch annoying 3-word-named teenager actors did last summer when they made a cheesy predictable C-class Wes Craven style cookie-cutter horror movie" type of deals. But since I had a free movie to watch, I took my chances and guess what?!?! I WAS WRONG!! It wasn't as realistic as breakdown, but difinitely a level above all the typical and predictable Hollywood horror crap that we see once every month. It still had its silly impossible hollywood moments, but the reason why it keeps you at the edge of your seat for a rather lengthy period of time is cause one day in a really remote part of the world, this thing just might happen to you if you were really really unlucky. Sort of like "Breakdown." It's not a masterpiece, but if you want a good fun time with your lover or a bunch of good friends, this is packed with entertainment, humor, suspense and as usual, a bunch of beautiful teenage actors.
