I finally got around to plucking my too-thick eyebrows and now I have to pluck them every week cause they grow so fast! How often do you women out there pluck your's? Or do you get them waxed and how much does that cost generally?

I have never had to pluck or wax or do anything to mine. I guess I'm lucky, cause mine don't seem to need it. They aren't too thick, and don't grow in any weird shape or anything.![]()

If I'm diligent, I'll pluck mine every two weeks. If not, I'll let 'em go for three or maybe four.If I don't get to them by then, I'll need a machete.

I go with the Brooke Shield's method. Natural.
I don't have a unibrow yet, so why mess with it.
Yea I went with that approach til a few weeks ago. Mine were about that thick. Now I have one more thing to add to my grooming routineOriginally posted by chrissy

eventually they just stop growing back.
i couldn't have big bushy eyebrows if tried at this point. when i was younger they used to be razor thin, and i seriously would pluck them, or at least do maintence on them, every other day.
as for waxing, i've been burned and had them mess up my perfect arch, so i stick to just plucking them out.
but like i said, there definitly is less to pluck then 5 years ago.
i pluck every 2 or 3 weeks when i get around to it.
i also wax about every 6 months. one of my friends works in a salon, so it costs me nothing but i think it costs around $10.
i barely have any eyebrows at all... just pluck about once a month cuz otherwise i really wont hv anyhting
I should just save up some money and go to the salon and get a bunch of stuff done. I have this thick wavy hair that drives me insane, and I want to get it thinned out and straightened. Also I want to get my eyebrows waxed and acrylic nails. All that would probably be about $70. Ouch.
Are you planning on getting the acrylics for an upcoming special occasion? They look sooooo nice but are a) bothersome if you have a computer job, b) expensive to maintain, and c) if you keep them for a long time, bad for your natural nails.
Is this something you just want to try out, or were you thinking more long-term?

I have had acrylic nails but it has been about 5 years or so. I am not sure how long I am planning to keep them but I want to have nails when I go back to Cali. I don't want people I haven't seen for a long time to see my bitten up fingers haha. Yea they are expensive. $25 to start, then $13 every time you fill em, which is about every 2 weeks or so. Yikes.Originally posted by jujubees

its so much cheaper if i just do myown nails..they dont look as good as the salons but it is worth it for the price ... and it keeps my normal nails healthy![]()
Since acrylic doesn't belong to any of the four basic food groups, I sure hope the nails will stem your biting habit!Originally posted by Anck Su Namun

Just be careful with them ... I have a friend who got acrylics for her 8th grade graduation and kept them throughout high school. She's 24 now and keeps them only because she doesn't want to have brittle nails while they're growing out.![]()

but yea they get brittle and yellow over time. eeeww. If I get em I probably won't keep em nearly as long as your friend did.

You are lucky...I started plucking mine when I was like 13 or 14 ( I'm now 19 ) and I have to do mine atleast once a week, or else it just drives me crazy...but it's usually just when I get around to it.
you realize that plucking them makes them come back thicker. The follicle identifies that the hair has been plucked and sends more blood to generate a new hair. This results in thicker hair

if you look at pictures of me from 8 or 9 years ago, and now after i hadn't plucked a single hair in a month, you can see a HUGE difference in the amount of eyebrows i have.

I may be crazy, but doesn't when you get rid of the hair by the root, it grows back thinner when it does grow back?Originally posted by brainsmile

i pluck about 6 hairs over the bridge of my nose, and about 4 under the curve of each eyebrow, so i just yank em whenever i notice em in the mirror. no big deal, since i stick pretty close to my natural state.Originally posted by Anck Su Namun

I was reading plucking tips online and all of them said to never pluck the hair above the brow cause it will grow back thicker. I did it anyway cause they were pretty thick with a lot of stray hair. I think that is a bunch of BS, it isn't thicker. It grows in fast though and I have to keep plucking away at it along with the rest of my brows.
They are a lot thinner now (not real thin, but a lot thinner than they were) and look soooo much better.
