Tired of Cingular Wireless service?

I know this is a little off topic, but I'm sure there are many of you who are sick of the service Cingular wireless provides. But what can you do you're probably under a contract. Well this is worth a shot.

Haha...once again..sucks to be on Cingular in California. Now, you guys would get your network working again if they somehow got rid of all the "unlimited" stuff.

Once again, people who signed onto the service were greedy and were thinking all the free "unlimited" didn't come with a price. You know, all the unlimited minutes that cingular is giving away costs them money, and in the end, you pay for it in poor service (because they lack the funding to increase cellsite density).

On the bright side, you have a flashy paperweight to show off to people most of the time. Get real, stop playing with your toy and get a real phone service.

I actually get great service here in SD. My gf and friend are both on Sprint and they hate it. Verizon is cheap but there are many holes in service around SD, as told to me by a buddy who has it. Other than the rates being too high, Cingular is good in my book.

Holes in service? Verizon has the highest cell site density in southern california. For workers at qualcomm and Sun Microsystems in San Diego(for example), the insider talk is to use Verizon/Airtouch. As for being cheap, they actually probably have one of the most expensive services in San Diego.

BTW, 96% of Airtouch Towers communicate with each other via Microwave antenna arrays in coordination with ground lines. The system was designed to work even when ground lines are busy. Once again, the advantage of having buildout since 1984.

In my area "System Busy" are well know words. The great people at Cingular(PB wireless) have been "upgrading" the towers for 2 years. I would like to thank them for all of their hard work.

I'm just telling you what I have experienced personally. All that jargon doesn't mean shiot when trying to talk to my buddy, who lives in Chula Vista. Big hole there.

First of all workers for those companies probably live in La Jolla, Del Mar, or some other cushy yuppie town. Of course they are going to have solid connections there. Secondly Verizon is cheaper than Cingular here in San Diego, by about $20 for the cheapest plan. For instance my buddy gets the same shiot I get(free mobile to mobile, free weekends, 450 minutes, voicemail, call forwarding, etc.) for about $20 less than I do.

I had Cingular for 2 years (well PACBELL for the first year). After my contract ended I looked at the services in my area (San Diego) and chose Verizon. They have the best service and a reasonable price. I could have paid less, but got much less for my money.
As for poor signal, I'm thinking that someone needs to get a better phone. All the cell density in the world isn't going to help out with a cheap ass phone...

verizon does have better coverage in san diego...my house gets crappy cingular (pac bell) coverage, but great verizon coverage...however, the rates suck for verizon, so im staying with cingular...not like i really need to use my cell phone in my house, so its allright. plus, i dotn know about verizon, but when i went to seattle and san jose with my cingular phone, all incomming calls were free for nights and weekends...i think thats a pretty good deal. my phone bill is $30 a month, and i talk for around 600 minutes a month
