I've driven a '98 Galant and i like it alot, it was real peppy and it drove like a very solid car. I was however, under the impression that they were a bit more expensive thatn the others on the list (Saleen Mustang not included) but if it's in your range i'd go for it

The Focus is also a great deal for the $

strangely ive driven all of those, except the saleen. my favorites were the galant and the accord. the focus didnt really do it for me, and i couldnt stand the taurus at all. if you were to take the civic route, i would suggest the previous model, it just seemed to handle better than the new one and IMO it looked better. its still a decent car and its bigger.

I would also say either the accord or the gallant. I think that those cars will be much more reliable than the Fords in the long run.

focus is a VW Golf wanna be...

accords are overpriced and feel a bit 'cheap' at least to me...

bang for your buck...look into VWs, they're packed with options and they just feel solid. drive an accord, civic, focus and a jetta/golf on the same day...you'll understand.

when there's a list of American cars and Japanese cars mixed....majority says the Japanese cars are better....

well, if your mom's gonna use it for the baby as well...I think safety is #1 thing you should look at...fords are pretty high up there with their safety ratings..

As for the galant, my friend has a 99 galant....4 cylinder....too weak..
    if you're getting that....get the 6.

'02 Accord (Maybe, but I don't like driving what 90% of the people drive so I wouldn't get it) It is a nice car though.
'02 Focus (Its a Ford, nuff said. Till they get their act together, I suggest skipping them)
    '02 Taurus (see above)
'02 Civic (One word : Ugly)
    '02 Mustang (see Taurus, Focus)
'02 Galant (Maybe but its a Mitsu and I haven't had much experience with them)

Suggestion, check out the Lancer if you want to go with Mitsu.
I know the Subaru WRX is ugly, but I think the engine makes up for its ugliness.
'02 Camry??? If you are looking at the Accord, why not the new Camry. Looks kinda neat, almost like a Intrepid.

then why not get an Intrepid???

I can't stand accords & camry's because styling is so annoying...they always seem to copy some other design instead of creating something nice looking and original

When do you want to make your purchase? The Accord is my pick of the bunch- However, it is due for its cyclical re-design very soon. I have rented the FOCUS on numerous occasions and it drove fine, except I felt unsafe while driving on the freeway- didn't feel very stable/responsive, especially when quick lane changes were necessary.

I am not impressed by american cars. My g-ma always gets them and they never last more than 3 years. I would choose Honda, only a CR-V which isn't on the list. My mom is going to get one soon I think.
Although Volkswagen and Audi are my favs but those weren't included in the list at all

yeah I kinda agree...accords and camry's tend to rippoff other people's designs.

I wouldn't get an intrepid because I don't trust Chrysler with passenger cars. I think they build better trucks personally. Although, I once rented a dodge neon and it was so much fun to drive. Heehee.

I would go Accord or Camry. They're good, dependable cars with good gas mileage. I mean seriously, no one with a kid is buying a car for its styling or power, although the accord and camry look OK i think. You just want something that will work well for a long time.

Of course, there's always the F-650 SuperCrewzer. You can fit the Kids and everything you own in this truck. And it's got the power and stylin (to me at least). Moderate pricing too!

I'd like to put in my vote for the accord. But, make sure you get the V6.

I see no point in getting a F**king Old Rebuilt Dodge
The Civic is the Accord's B**ch anyways
The Galant is probably the safest Mitsubishi, but it's still a Mitsubishi, so I wouldn't want my kid in one of those deathtraps (not a bad sound system though). Too fast... too light. Designed like bad planes (takes off OK, not good at landing).

you've driven Chrysler passenger cars and you like it. You like their trucks, and so, you don't have any qualms about the company itself....so, why don't you 'trust' them with cars???

and besides, Chrysler's a German company now

I was looking at passenger carsawhileago and found that the Nissan Maxima was a blast to drive and the best value. If you cant swing that one try the Altima. THey are really great cars but not as popular as the Hondas. You should at least test drive one. Anyway Accord otherwise.

Well, hell, if we're not sticking to the list no more, I always thought the new Mazda Protege was kind of intriguing-looking.

I've driven a neon, and it was fun. but I would never go out and buy a neon. I would buy a dodge ram because that's one mean truck. I'd buy a dodge viper because its an exotic that's probably just going to sit in my garage 90% of the time. I wouldn't buy a sebring, pt cruiser or 300m. Just because I don't hate Chrysler, doesn't mean I like all Chrysler cars.
I do love the S-class mercedes but I still think the M-class looks like a minivan with big tires.

The Honda Accord is the best choice on your list. It is going to be more dependable and problem free than any of your other choices. And it has the best resale value of any other of the cars on your list. Check out what used Honda Accords sell for then check the others. The depreciation on Honda's if pretty low.
