DVD players and CDRs
OK, so I see a few DVD players say that they play MP3s, CDRs, VCDs, etc. My question is, what format (if any) video is playable on the CDR/CDRWs? Can I just pop in a CDR with an .avi or .mpg file on it & play? Anyone know anything about this?

In terms of video, you can't just pop in a CD-r/w with a computer video file (*.avi or *.mpg) on it. What you do is burn the CD-r/w as a VCD and it will work. Use a program like NERO and you can do it. If you go to www.VCDhelp.com they will tell you everything you need to know about how to do it.
And the same goes with audio CD-r/w's. If you're DVD player can read MP3s than you can just pop in a cd full of MP3 files, but if it can't then you burn the CD with WAV files like an audio CD. hope that helped.

I used to do 3D animation and I put all my work on VCDs. It takes a bit of figuring out (converting files formats, using this program and that, and finally burning it, etc..) but it's not too complicated. Once you get it done it's awesome cause you get to view your computer files on your TV full screen and it doesn't skip frames like on a computer. I've done it enough to be pretty familiar with the process now. If you have any questions just let me know. good luck.
