Guys and gals, I need your help. I need to find a vacant hotel in Manhattan, NY, preferably around 80th South Street. It will for (Sunday) 6/11 - (Thursday) 6/15. I have tried expedia.com, and all of the hotels were listed as no occupancy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Try Priceline. That site is awesome. Why are you coming to NYC? Vacation?

Thanks, I will try priceline.com. How fast do they respond back to you?
By the way, the trip is for business and vacation.

Priceline got back to me with a great price on an airplane ticket within 3 hours.

I don't know if thse have vacancy, but since this is the Deals forum try the search engines for New York Hostels (hostels not hotels)...They're way cheaper than the $200+ you'll pay for a regular room in Manhattan:

    Here are a couple:

Wow, that's fast! Price really isn't an issue since it will be a business expense. I just need a way to find out which hotels are still vacant. All of the hotels in the downtown area are already booked.

MadCool, have you stayed in one of the hotels in Chinatown before? If so, how was it? Do you know the names and numbers of them? Chinatown is a pretty cool place!

    Question

Try the Embassy Suites ( http://www.embassysuites.com ) at 102 North End (Battery Park City). It's brand new (been open a couple weeks), so they may have space...

You can try all the major chains' sites if Expedia or the like isn't helping...

Uh...that would be a bad idea. No point in endangering your life on a business trip. I've never even heard of a hotel existing in NYC's Chinatown. My mistake...I think I did see ONE. But I bet it's packed full of gangsters and prostitutes. Don't get me wrong, Chinatown is a wonderful place to grab a hearty meal. But I'd choose another location to spend the night.

    I bet there's a reason for that.

    Thanks for the advice ugly!

NYC must be the happening place because all of the hotels are full for those dates. I was even thinking about staying at a bed and breakfast place in the Little Italy area. With many calls and persistence, I finally found a vacant spot at the Marriott Trade Center for $379 per night. Now, that's a whole lot of money, but it's covered! Phew!

Thanks everyone for your help !

    Cool

Chinatown ain't that bad, i slept in my car in a parking garage in NYC before so i think it'd be a step up from that. They might have a bench in central park too that you could crash on.

Yeah, but you might wake up with 19 stab wounds and no pants and shoes.

Central Park is getting dangerous. Did you guys hear about the sexual assaults in broad daylight? Women were getting dragged to the floor, stripped, and molested by a huge mob. And cops didn't even care.

Yes, I saw it on television. How scary! I was so shocked! I cannot believe that something like that actually happened in front of everyone, and no one tried to help.

I am sure you can find a decent hotel in NYC. Hey all it takes is $$$$ and you've got that covered! So no worries. Plus NYC is a relative small island. If you are thinking about downtown, DON'T limit yourself only to hotels in downtown. You can get to downtown from Midtown in like 30 mins. the $1.50 subway is great.

And Kimmy, you can get a whole bunch of those gold dollars everyone's been raving about.
