    dvd/cd changers vs. dvd players

i wondered if i could get you people's input on something:
i've been doing research, figuring out what i want to get for my home theatre system, and i know i want to get a 5-disc cd changer (i know some would argue that a 250+ disc jukebox is better, but i think for how i'll use it, a 5-disc will be better).
my question is whether i'd be better off to get a 5-disc cd/dvd player, or should i get a dedicated dvd player in addition to the cd changer?
i've done some comparisons on crutchfield.com and it appears that if i go for the combo, i'll save some money. but i'm wondering if i'll be sacrificing dvd playback quality by getting the cd/dvd combo. does anyone know or have an opinon?

I've never been a changer man. Especially when it comes to audio cd's. You get a higher quality single cd player for the same price. And for me being a wannabe audiophile, quality over quantity. Anyhow I'm not sure if the same applies to changers, but I'm guessing the quality on changers aren't as good. I would much rather buy a progressive scan player over a 5 dvd changer. Plus, when's the next time you're gonna watch 5 dvd's without ever getting up? If you do this a lot, I'll stand corrected

thanks for the input -- you're probably right. i'll probably go for a single-disc dvd but i don't know if i want a cd changer or not (being able to put in a bunch of cds and let them play is appealing to me). i'll keep looking.

You're better off getting a single dvd then a cd changer. Theres a reason they call 'em components. I've never been into them all in one gitups. . . if one thing busts there goes your whole system. Also more importantly you have no room for upgrade.

I have a 5-disc Sony CD player that I rarely use anymore - I've ripped the bulk of my CDs to MP3s and just play them on my computer. I also have a Toshiba SD-6109C DVD player. A multi-disc DVD player would be wasted on me.

Not really what you asked, but I thought I'd give you a little more to think about.
