But I can't get it to work. Does anyone else have this setup?
I'm in So.Cal and I know my Def Gateway, IP Add and Subnet Mask... is there anything else that I need?
I need some help... thanks!
Dave.

I feel like such an ultra-maroon. But I got the web working. However... are there special mail setting to get Outlook to work?
Dave.
Well first off for basics. Make sure you got the modem plugged in the router port for the connection. Then you will need to go into the router setup *gasp read the manual for more details* Easiest way is open up ie and go to the addy of the router and you'll be directed to a setup menu. Anyhow the rest should be fairly easy to make sure you got everything right. I'm unfamiliar with @home, but make sure you got the router set up for static or dynamic ip.

What's ultimately ironic... is I'm the guy who writes the manuals... but I'm the last one to look at them
Thanks for the help, though.
I'm glad I have at least the www working.
I'll let you know the news.
Dave.
P.S. Get a chip already!!!![]()
For Cox@home you need to enter
Incoming: netmail.home.com
Outgoing: netmail.home.com
for att@home, your mail should be:
mail.(domain city.state).home.com
ex:
Mine is mail.salem.or.home.com
Spigs, you MFR#1N!

Thanks... the netmail.home.com was the one that worked.
Now, I'm working on getting computer #2 to work.
Thanks for the help... I may be back to ask for more

MORE!?!? WTF you thinking boy? This ain't no free forum. . . hehe the rest of the tech support will be $39.95/hourGlad you're getting everything going.
I charge 69.95 an hour... thats what the goign rate is for us CCNA types... (shhhhh, dont tell anybody I dont actually have mine yet, Im too cheap to take the damn test)
Spigs, you MFR#1N!

CCNA... is that Citrix?
Anyway... it's all good now. I had a phoneline network card in comp #2 that I think was causing a conflict.
So, I used the tried and true method of "yanking cards out until you're down to your VooDoo3" until the new card works.
Thanks all!
Dave.

Yes, I write software/hardware user manuals, guides, online help, etc. I didn't write the ones for the Linksys, if that's what you're asking.
But, what I meant was that I put so much work into MY documents, and I still don't go to the manual right away with other products... even though I'm sure a lot of work goes into writing them.
