Are there any that you can use with DUN? I've been using netzero with that hack, but for the last few months it disconnects every 10 minutes or so, which is very annoying..I would've jumped on the chance to get a high speed connection, however my cable company has no interest in ever releasing high speed access in my area (this is new jersey folks)..oh well..

www.worldshare.com uses a standard dun connection setup. I don't use their software but use just a dun and it works. If you are interested in them I will copy my settings and post them.

Please show how to disable the ad box. Is there any pretty high speed free connection? Worldspy used to have pretty good speeds, but it hasn't been working lately. Anyone else?

    Worldshare DUN setup

Make a connection with your local number then right click the Worldshare link in Dial Up Networking,go to properties under Server Types make sure Log on to Network is clicked at the top and that is *all*. On the bottom just choose at least TCP/IP.

    Primary DNS 12.127.177.2
    Secondary DNS 12.127.16.68

Now on your connectoid when you start it your name should be

    i.wshr.USERNAME

for your logon-exactly as typed with your username in caps.
The connectoid takes a little longer than normal DUN's because of the time it takes to log on to the network.

    HTH.

You have to sign up online before this will work and Worldshare requires you to fill out a survey once a month but you can have it sent anywhere and they don't use Rhinopoint anymore. Plus the best part is no banner ads.

Do you pay the $15 "donation" per year that they ask you to pay? What happens if you don't?

I signed up before they asked for a donation but a friend that just signed up said it is a requested donation not an obligation. They have a FAQ on their site if you need more info.

    shawn,

just download, install and boot up the worldspy software one time. Log onto their service. That will create a dial up networking connector in your DUN. Then, simply modify it by putting in the password you chose when you signed up into the password field. Be careful not to touch the insanely long user i.d. that is pre-filled for you. Then, simply sign in by using the dial up network connector instead of booting the worldspy software. Either way you do it with them, there is no tracking so it's a good deal, however, I don't like the idea of big brother tracking me from my task bar, not to mention having it running eats up the RAM I need for online gaming. Good luck

    Tim

I've had great luck with the worldspy.com DUN workaround. Awesome connect speeds, and no off timer. I was connected for 16 hrs straight dowloading MP3 files, which of course is a bear if your not using a T1 line.

I have used WORLDSPY for a month or two with good connect speeds. About a week ago, I started getting an error message that would not allow me to log in.

I spoke to a tech at WOLDSPY today, and he told me they are fixing a widespread problem with logging in, especially dial in numbers ending in 9.

I'm told they will get it fixed and continue the service.

There are no banners and they say no tracking. I was happy with it, and will use it when it's back online.

    Unhappy

Hi everyone! I tried to sign up for the free internet on WorldShare, they DO request money for the service, $10 is the minimum. I try to get past the page during the signup requesting a credit card or a check to verify payment. I was like, WTF? you call this free internet? Oh well, back to using free internet service from bluelight.... wheee more ads to watch!

I did what Timotheus said with the addition of changing the number to a local number from 123-4567 and it works great. I wasn't sure it would since it shows the primary and secondary DNS servers as 0.0.0.0 in dial-up networking. Anyway, thanks for the tip!
