Holiday gift ideas for frugal minds

    http://holidayorganizer.com/index.shtml

I hate it when someone stops by at the holidays and I have nothing for them but they have brought me somehthing. I try to have little things in a basket at the door (sounds so Martha doesn't it ) and this site has a bunch! I think I might have to try a few like the cornbread mix and the little bags of snowmen poop for the kids in the neighborhood. But for snowmen poop, wouldn't that chex cereal thing be better? Where you coat the chex cereal in chocolate and then in powder sugar?

Thanks Chrissy...this is just what I needed! I need to not spend so much money this year.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.

Thanks for the site, very cute ideas. This will really help this year since I am on a budget. It seems that the more friends i make and the more family members i keep in contact with the less money i have. Maybe some of those cheap gift ideas will help. If you have any other good tips or secrets about how to save money on the holiday please share!

I never made it! I learned about it at my daughter's GS meeting the other night! (I missed out somewhere!)

But, it sounds like it would be good snowman poop. Because of the sugar coating? Would it?

Oh, yes! It would make great "poop" and more tasty in my opinion than plain marshmallows...could also be reindeer poop that has fallen in the snow. (The powdered sugar looks like snow.) It is yummy. Maybe someone should post the recipe for those that don't have it.

The "puppy chow" mix isn't at that site. Click there, like you said and you will see that

    Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

    Okie Puppy Chow

Melt over low heat in large pan:

2/3 to 1 cup creamy peanut butter
    1 stick margarine or butter
12 oz. chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate or mixture..your choice)

Mix in 1 box of Rice Chex or Crispix cereal and stir well to coat
    all.
Put in large brown paper bag 1/2 box of powdered sugar (2-3 cups).
Add coated cereal and shake gently to
distribute sugar well over all cereal.

Store in airtight containers (if it lasts that long!)
