i give thanks for my motorcycle fking itself today! yay

    obviously the title is facetious....

i had let the bike sit for 2 weeks, and i went to start it today. It cranked over once (i was expecting a hard start cause it sat for 2 weeks and would hardly run even before that), and as it turned over the second time, i heard this really loud THUNK noise (metal on metal), and it stopped cranking. I tried cranking it again and it wont turn over. The starter is trying alright, but it just wont butge at all. I also tried putting it in gear and backing the engine up, but no luck there either - seemed to be completely "frozen".

Yay for me, my $3000 cycle just reduced itself to a $250 hunk of plastic and metal.

Yes it does, but not starting engines every so often, in gerneral, is not good.

It could be any number of things though...

well, the bike will (err, would) start even if left for over a month, but this time, something broke internally. either it threw a rod, busted a valve or something, timing chain/belt went out, or a gear in the starter mechanism messed up or something.

oh well, i'm gonna try to read through the manual and trouble shoot.

heheh... fixing your own motorcycle is even sexier than riding it... ... make sure you fix it in plain view of any available ladies that might randomly cruise by...

Have someone put it in the back of their truck for you and take you to a busy interstate, then if welfare's plan is true, you'd be bound to find some chicks.... maybe you could even take some welding gear with you and say youhave it all the time. Also you should get a fake heart tatoo that says "MOTHER" Hmmm., guess i put too much thought into it... forget it. Hope you find out whats wrong with the bike.

Did you try kicking it? Or maybe try saying nice things, it could be playing hard to get on you.

Personally, I've found a large sledge-hammer to work the best.

will the back wheel still spin when in gear?

you could try to manually kick start it. roll it down a hill and pop the clutch. that sometimes works for me when my battery isn't givin enough juice to start it.

    good luck
    i have become comfortably numb......
