    digital camera advice

Okie, time for me to get one. I'm looking for a 3+ megapixel camera. I want to spend under $450. I'm pretty much spliced between the Canon powershot s30 or the Nikon coolpix 885. Any other recommendations? Also, I want something fairly compact so its not a hassle to carry around.

Yeah, I'm a big nikon fan for regular format film. But I'm so lost in the digital trend of photography. Thanks for the review links. I was leaning to the nikon 'cause of the adapter features. Only thing I heard was you can get some weird red artifacts in pictures. . . anyhoo, I was also wondering how much better the 995 is since there is that $100 rebate for it. . .

Yep, I've checked out all of those sites before. Thanks guys! I was just hoping to see any input from actual owners. Anyhoo, I'm stuck between now the 885 and 995. Here are my reasons:

Pluses for 885: smaller, better lens. Minuses: no recharge kit included, gonna cost more than the 995 with a recharge kit.

Pluses for 995: comes with charger kit, ends up being cheaper than the 885 w/ rebate. Minuses: lil' bulky, scared I may break the swivel body.

Oh well, I'll figure it out soon. . .

Well finally bit the bullet. Ordered me a 995. Couldn't resist at $509.99 plus $100 rebate. Ends up cheaper than a 885 with a recharge kit. . . go figure. . .
