    Dial up Problems

    Hey Yall,
I'm having a problem dialing up. I'm using Dial-up to connect online.

Ever since I installed XP when I try to sign on, right when I click Dial. The computer freezes in "opening port"

It was in my 5th PCI slot, so I tried moving my modem over to my 3rd PCI port and it worked once fine. I turned on my computer for a second time, and same thing happened.

Now I just moved it to the 2nd PCI slot and it works... but I'm afraid when I reboot the comp again, it will happen again. Anyone come across something like that?

Did you completely removed all the modem drivers before reinstalling the modem in a different PCI slot?

thats a good idea for uninstalling the all the drivers...and just let XP install it's own drivers...then it shall work from there...and if all else fails.

Well.. I didn't have any problems when I moved the modem to the final 2nd port.. and no problems.. then I noticed I didn't remove the 2 previously installed drivers for each slot I had it in before... SO i removed those.. So far.. no problems.

Just curious on why it happened in the first place though.. Only had one set of drivers installed from the beginning...
