    Harry Potter or Lord of Rings

    Which do you prefer?
    Jason on Fox Trot prefers LotR, as does Ed Robertson from BNL (as witnessed at the last concert I went to- "sparkly accordians are harry potter while sparkly guitars, well, they're lord of the rings!"

    Since I don't remember reading LotR, I prefer Harry Potter. Maybe I'll read the books soon.

    I haven't read either or seen Harry Potter yet, but I'd like to see it. My hubby has read all the LoTR books and is going to take me to see the movie in December. All I have to say is "Mmmmm, yummy. Elijah Wood." He's only 20 but he's a cutie!

    LOTR looks muy cool compared to potter, I saw it and wasn't too impressed. I mean maybe it'll appeal to 10-15 year olds, but I haven't even read the book. Anyway, from what I've seen LOTR looks more interesting.

    Neither. They're both kids books. That said, I'll probably see LOTR at a matinee or the cheap theater, just for the cinematography. No interest in seeing Potter.

    I originally didn't want to watch LoTR (I don't really like Elijah Wood), because I didn't think that a movie maker was going to be able to capture the grandeur of Tolkien's stories. But after seeing the previews, I'm hooked. I will be there, in the over-priced theaters, watching hobbits and elves fight for their lives.

    The reason I haven't even mention Harry up to this point is because I got 13 pages into the book (and yes, it is a fast read), got bored with it, put it down and never went back. I MIGHT try reading it again, but no time soon.

    Lord of The Rings is getting amazing reviews. Even better than Harry Potter. It's supposedly a mega budget movie that lives up to the hype and investment. Looks like a must-see.

    i read the Hobbit as a kid. i loved it. i've never read any of the LoTR sereis though. I can't wait for LoTR though. Potter was ok, i enjoyed it, but not worth all the hype. I love Tollkien, he is an awesome writer and was good friends with C.S. Lewis, another one of my favorite authors. Definately LoTR over Potter.

    as i said in a thread in Off Topic, the real measure of a movie is it's trolls. the troll in LoTR would kick the arse of the troll in Harry Potter. the wizard kids from Harry Potter would stand no chance against the troll from LoTR, therefore LoTR is the better movie. case closed.

    Saw Harry PotteR Twice, once before reading and once after, Going to see LOTR this saturday.

    As far as book reading the language of Harry Potter is easier to read than Lord of the Rings.... but I am sure there is a reason LOTR has been a fan favorite for so long. Both are good for difference reason I guess.

    My roomie saw both and he liked LOTR better due to the action and fight scenes. However he started reading Harry Potter due to that movie .....

    Im 99% sure all four books were in my elementary school's library (grades K-7, ages 5-12), I know for sure the Hobbit was. I read the Hobbit when I was 9 or 10 and the other three in the next couple years.

    Unfortunately, TV and video games have eroded my attention span to roughly that of a fruit fly, so I don't read nearly as much as I did when I was a kid. Oh well, it's my parents' fault for buying me that Nintendo with Super Mario Brothers/Duckhunt.

    I saw harry potter and lord of the rings. I liked lord of the rings better. I would love to read both book series but childrens books or not i don't like to read since i do a lot for school, but i am actually considering making an exception for LOTR.

    I hate it when you have to wait a year at the movies to figure what the end of the story is i am not patient.
