GTA3: Being banned and edited

Apparently, GTA 3 for PS2 is being yanked off certain stores shelves and the next pressing of the game will have certain parts edited out. After hearing this, I decided to look around and pick one up. After exhausting most online resources, short of Ebay and Half.com, I started calling all my local retailers. Luckily, Toys R Us had one left. The guy I spoke with said they had over 100 copies not 3 days ago.

On Ebay it's already goign for over $60, and half.com's best price is $55. Whew... got lucky I guess!

I heard this from a friend... so I have no idea if it is true or not, but he said can pull your car over and pick up hookers in one part. I would assume that would be one part...

I would look for a story to come out soon from one of the major game pages...

I think this is crap that they edit or ban this game. Why make an "M" rating system if your not going to use it?

Well, you can beat peoples heads in with baseball bats, you can pick up hookers and murder them afterwards to get your money back, the guys in the game often say "sh*t!" and "carpet muncher!" and lots of other stuff. The whole game is full of stuff many people would find obscene and offensive. I really dont know how much they're gonna edit out.

Um, this is a rumor, and from what I've discerned from a couple game stores, it's bogus. None of them were asked to ship the game back. But, it could be related to Rockstar's new game, State of Emergency. Some group already recomended that the game be toned down. Rockstar told them to take a hike. The game will be unedited, but will have a mature rating...not that it matters.
