I started to use the Shell Mastercard to buy gas. There is no annual fee for the card and you get a 5% rebate on gas purchased from any Shell. At $1.75/gal, that is a rebate of almost $0.09/gal.

you know, it's funny because everybody here cancelled their carclub.com memberships after they received their certificates... I bet what most people didn't realize though is that membership includes a debit/discount card which is like a check card; you put cash in the account and you buy gas w/ the card. Carclub.com is claiming a 10% discount whenever you use the card to buy gas. I just got my card yesterday when I was about to cancel... now I'm reconsidering...

Wow, carclub's 10% is a great deal. What's this I hear about a certificate though? Is that some sort of deal that's expired?

Yeah, there was a free $10 at carclub when they started. But yes, that 10% makes a little bit of a difference. $50 for $45...can't really beat that, except for those Mobshop ones...but then again, I haven't been able to use it because it seems Exxon's gone out of business. They haven't, but it sure seems that way in LA...

The certificate I was talking about is a $15 GC to amazon. It's still in effect, so if you sign up now, you'll still get it (takes about a week to get mailed to you). If you don't like it, you can still cancel your membership by calling them. You can check out the link here. BTW, the card looks really cool. Too bad I don't have time to scan and post it up though...

    Unhappy

Still $2.19 for regular unleaded in MI. Cost me $50 to fill the minivan yesterday. I about s*** a brick.

That car club is a pretty good deal.. I spend about 150/month on gas.. They're charging 6/month for membership.

If only they added free towing/minor repair, then I could cancel my AAA and it'd be a no-brainer.

Otherwise, its the hassle of another card.. what to do, what to do..

Yeah, I was out in Claremont, CA this weekend, and saw gas sub-$1.40. Needless to say, the Durango got a nice, long drink. 18 gallons...with a quarter tank in there. Lucky I can walk to work, esp. since I'm getting 10 mpg in the city.

Here in SW Chicagoland its about $2.25 for mid-grade, and about $2.35-$2.45 for premium. $30+ to fill a Chevy Corsica- ain't life grand?

The worst part is that downstate by school its like $1.70 for midgrade. Bastards!

While we're on the topic of gas...

Is ARCO gas inferior? I prefer Unocal or Chevron, but everytime I drive by one of those ARCO stations, I'm tempted..

i though the NYC prices were bad, too bad were not in texas, but then again i dont think i'd ever move out of the city unless we get another dinkins. We'll for you ppl that pay 2+ for gas, i feel for you, i think i'd rather walk than pay those prices. Kinda wish i had a civic/metro. I'd get an insight but thats really too small. Well, gotta post a new topic. Haha, makes ya wish there were coupons for gas doesnt it.

Oh, Geo Metro of mine, how I love thee!

The car I love to hate is treatin' me pretty well these days with prices of ~$1.90 here in central Minnesota. Gotta love ~45 mpg!

I guess this gives me some time to save gas money before my Mustang rolls outta the paint booth...

    Cool

Not to make you guys jealous or anything, but here in Atlanta I just filled up for 1.45 the other day -- and that's the most I've ever paid for gas in my life!
