how is this a problem? just don't cheat on your taxes and you won't have a problem. seems fine to me...
It's this part that I don't like... "The Internal Revenue Service, worried that tax cheating is on the rise, wants to bring back a version of the "super audits" that were so dreaded and controversial that they were all but eliminated by the agency."
Well seeing as there is like 10,000 pages of the IRS tax laws, that's one hell of a test to ace. Even the tiniest mistake you can get penalized up the whazoo. Unless, of course, you are willing to fork out a buttload to an tax person to begin with. Not everyone files the 1040-ez, you know.![]()

Ahh the voice of the naive...
Consider the fact that families making a combined income of $40K or less per year are much more likely to be audited than a family with a combined income of more than $100K (not to mention that if you call the IRS helpline you are more likely to get a wrong answer to your question as opposed to a right one - yet you are still liable for that even though it is THEIR mistake).
The IRS holds a huge amount of power (with ego to boot) and can make your life a living helleven if you DIDN'T cheat on your taxes and are always on the up-and-up.
My taxes are complicated enough working my day job and doing sub-contract work on weekends - now I went and got married (and will encounter the marriage penalty). I really wish the flat tax plan would finally go through - it's a lot simpler and fairer.Ahh one can only dream...

I think over again
My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.
And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:
To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.
