Plans announced for 4.5 hour LOTR DVD

    http://filmforce.ign.com/lotr/articles/317493p1.html

Okay, so they still won't be adding Tom Bombadil to the Fellowship of the Rings movie. However, many other favorite scenes that didn't make the movie's final cut may yet make it into the Tolkien epic. Last month, director Peter Jackson dropped comments that while no director's cut was forthcoming, the DVD release of the first Lord of the Rings film would include about forty extra minutes' worth of cut scenes as bonus features.

Today, the news gets even better. According to TheOneRing.net, producer Barrie Osborne told 1010 Winds radio of New York City that there would be an extended director's cut edition available after all. And according to Dark Horizons, CNN's Showbiz Today segment confirmed the news, saying that the Fellowship DVD director's cut would be over four hours in length...
I don't know about you folks, but I think it's cool. Just make sure you have a comfortable seat

Well, if the extra scenes will be part of the movie itself and not on a 2nd "outtakes" DVD I may just wait for the DVD instead of seeing it in the theatres.

something that annoys me and that I need to point out..
it's not 1010 Winds... it's 1010 WINS as in radio station id: W-I-N-S

That reminds me of a story from about 10 years ago which has nothing to do with this thread, but since I've started...

My Grandparents lived in Yonkers, NY and started spending about 6 months each year in Florida. In New York, they always listened to 1010 WINS radio. One time when my parents were going to visit them, my grandmother asked my mom to bring down her little radio from the house in New York. My mom asked why since she already had a radio. My grandmother replied (something to the effect of), "Well, I miss listening to my radio station and if you bring my radio down I can listen to it!"

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

plus seeing it both with and without the cuts will allow you to decide which version you'd like better. I totallt agree with brew though, see it in the theatre...

Thank frickin' goodness... hopefully, this will relieve some of the choppyness I noticed in the movie theater version.
It is not enough to merely touch the face of god; you also must open your eyes so that you may see your palm.
