    Can you say 175,000?

My grey '89 Volvo 740GL station wagon hit 175,000 miles today! I've never had an major problems with it either. Only had to change the radiator 5 years ago. Lookin' forward to another 175K miles!

We had an '82 Corolla that went for 212k before the body fell off the frame. Also had a Prizm that got about 170k before it was totaled (by my brother).

my dad has this 89 chevy beauville van that he refuses to let go. i think it has almost 300K on it now.

    and its all macgyvered together.

i have no idea how he gets from one point to another with it. but he loves it and will keep it alive until he gets a new one.... which hopefully will be next fall. and then the eyesore can be put to rest.

hehe, I've seen some funny things happen with cars. One time, a friend of mine was driving out of a parking lot when the U-joint in his driveline just fell off. No warning... It was the funniest thing I've ever seen!

My parents have 2 cars with 170k + miles on them. They both run well, but they need some interior work.

No, he didn't catch me with "quickness" I caught my mistake before he did and I fixed it and when he quoted it, it was spelled the right way and he changed it so it would be spelled wrong.

Heh heh....my intro to stats teacher told us a few funny stories about one of his cars.

It was a dodge someoranother and it wasn't very good at all.

    1. The door handles sucked. At one point of that car's life, he had pulled off all the handles.

    2. Whenever he would accelerate or break he would hear a clunking sound. The thing that was wrong with it is of the four bolts holding the engine in place, three of the were broken. So, when he accelerated, the engine would move backwards...and when he breaked, the engine would move forward.

My physics teacher told us a story about his Mazda RX-7.

He was at a stop light waiting for it to turn green. Some guy to the left of him was motioning for him to roll down his windows. After a little hesitation, he rolls it down. The guy in the other car goes, "YOUR CAR IS ON FIRE!!!" My teacher just shrugs it off. At the next stoplight he looks in his side mirror and his car is indeed flaming. So he parks it at a gas station (which is a great place to put a burning car btw). He gets out and calls the fire department and they put it out. Now he has an Acura TL or CL, can't remember. </story>

Got a 78 Plymouth Voyager that just reached 25,000 miles. It should've been a lot higher, but we've just replaced the whole engine a few years back. Now we only use it when we have to lug a whole lotta stuff.

The first car I ever had was a '87 VW Fox - It had 187,000 miles on it before I had to replace the manual transmission on it (I practically ran it into the ground - I was coming from San Diego back up to L.A. and it started to die on me - by the time I was in L.A. all I had was 4th gear and it was starting to smoke). I really ran it into the ground later and ended up donating it to the red cross for parts.

The total mileage for 10 years on the road was 221,000 miles. Not bad for a $6,500 first car.
    I think over again
    My small adventures, my fears.
The small ones that seemed so big,
For all the vital things I had to get and to reach.

And yet there is only one great thing, the only thing:

To live to see the great day that dawns,
And the light that fills the world.

    -old Inuit song
