    No CD Driver =/

    What up, all.

I just formatted my Sony Vaio Notebook and I used my Windows 98 Start up Disk to do so. My problem is, when I try and reinstall Windows 98, I'll get a message saying: "Cannot locate device driver". It means it can't find the appropriate driver for the cd-rom drive, but it won't let me install the one I got off of sony.com because the exe says I need Microsoft Windows to run the program.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Specs:
    Sony Vaio PCG-Z505HS
    CD-ROM: PCGA-CD51

looks like you need a boot disk with the drivers for your cd rom. there should be a bootable restore disk for your laptop which has drivers for the dvd. if you dont have that, there is a way to make a boot disk with that info, but i dont know a lot about that stuff. i learned this lesson a while ago: always have all the drivers you need BEFORE you format.
