    Do you volunteer?

    In your community, I mean.

    Well?

    Girl Scouts.

I am currently in the role of cookie mom. I, so far will have over 70 cases of cookies in my house on the 22nd. And this total is excluding 5 girls who haven't turned in their form yet. And I know one of the girls sold 130 boxes her first night out.

Doesn't this remind you of that "Friends" episode where Ross had to sell bluebird girl cookies and lost the most cookies sold award to a girl whose older sister put on her uniform and sold the cookies on a naval carrier?

Yes, I used to, but now, there aren't any decent volunteer programs in my area.

I volunteer at my daughter's school several times a month.

i used to volunteer quite a bit in HS/college, but my schedule is too erratic now to really effectively volunteer for much of anything.

I don't think this'll stop anything though - the better you idiot-proof a system, the more impressive the idiot becomes.

I'm in tech support. I don't have time to volunteer, when friends, family, and strangers off the street constantly bugging me with their computer problems.

Yep. Volunteered at UCLA hospital when I was an undergrad. there. Now, I'm part of this program (CMS-CARES) that goes to elementary schools and tells them about the bad effects of illicit drugs.

i used to (tutoring, science clubs for kids, environmental education at the nature center), and probably will again. but right now i don't have time to pee. literally. "omg my bladder HURTS" just never quite makes it to #1 on the mental priority list, sometimes for hours at a time.

I am in QA but I end up in the same boat.
I give blood. But I don't have time for community stuff any more.
