    Running windows XP on a PentiumII-300MHz 256MB RAM

    How well will windows xp run on this config? My dad wants to install windows xp on his home computer.

    check ur ghx card, some systems are really nasty with XP with cheappy ghx cards

    i ran xp on alot less. it workd fine, on my old pentium I or II (i forgot which) 200 mhz with 90 something ram.

    I'd say XP would run OK on that system, better than Win2k even. XP has better memory management than 2k does, and you can tweak the startup process to better match the system hardware.

    I'd be ok with it.

    it will run ok


    I have it running on a 266 ( 233 OC ) with 192meg o ram


    and it is sluggish on there



    if he can deal with that
