well, 200 miles is close enough that you can drive down for the weekends or when you don't have school... But it would still be tough.

just manage your money, time, and dont throw any parties for a while, and then if you do, keep them small and far apart.

good advice, nano. can i add a few other things:
1.) don't be afraid to admit it if your lonely. just don't drown in your loneliness....try to do something about it.
2.) if you don't miss your family a bit, that's perfectly normal. i didn't when i moved out (yes, all you moms out there can tell me i'm a bad child now )
3.) learn to do laundry. there are two categories: whites and colors. as long as you don't have any brand new dark clothes (which may bleed colors), you don't have to worry about anything else.
4.) learn to cook at least two things (microwave dinners and frozen pizza don't count). pasta is an easy one. grilled cheese is another
5.) wash your dishes before a smell starts coming from your sink. same goes for emptying the garbage.
6.) try to do at least a basic cleaning once every month or two.
7.) try to remember to lock your doors before going to sleep at night and when you leave during the day

if you follow that advice, you will look at least somewhat responsible

One more things I'd add to whitak's list:

    - Throw out things from the refrigerator when they begin taking on a personality of their own
    stay low... keep moving...

Bah, save your money. Leech of your parents for as long as they will let you. Try to save enough for college or if that is already taken care of, a down payment on a house.

But if you do move out on your own, take all of whitak24's advice.

yeah, but then again, there is something to be said for learning how to live on your own BEFORE your first year of college. get that under control first and you're in good shape.

also, it would SUUUUUUUCK to move for the last semester of high school (i'm assuming, because of your age, that you are a HS senior?) that's when friends are msot important to you... can you imagine moving to a new school that late in the game? he probly has a gf, plans for prom, etc... and the last summer before college with your friends!!!

just handle it responsibly. don't trash your place, even tho you are going to be about the only person in your social circle who can have parent-free parties. don't trust everyone else to act responsibly on your behalf... a little noise, some drunk underage kids... and you are SCREEEEWED... don't let it happen!

I have to disagree with this. If he's going to be lonely, he'll need someone to talk to. Just don't forget to take the lettuce for a walk!!!

Just learn to like instant noodles and you'll be fine.

Hey, your still a kid regardless of what you may think, parents don't get enough time with their kids as is..prolong growing up and being an adult as long as you can. Trust me, you'll have enough time to live on your own and have crucial decisions to make (like what you are going to do when your plumbing leaks, and what takes priority, paying your bills or buying groceries)Stay with your parents till you're out of High School!

You had to grow up too fast, Nano. But on the bright side, you're probably a better person because of it!
