Progresso watered down their clam chowder! I'm pissed!

So I go to the supermarket today and pick up some progresso clam chowder. On the can it says "now with 50% more clams!" That may be true but now the soup is WATER-thin. This stuff used to be one creamy mofo.

I must say New England Clam Chowder is one of my favorite soups. Personally, I don't like Progresso. The Campbells Chunky Clam Chowder started to get to me.. Too thick! Campbells also has I think its homestyle, with more clams & juice or something. That thing taste pretty darn good, creamy, and more clam taste than ever before. Snow's used to be my brand of choice, but nah, dont taste as good anymore.

If you guys have a Yoshinoya Beef Bowl (fast food) restaurant around, they have clam chowder (food service stuff) that tastes pretty good. And for those who have a Boudin's sourdough bakery around, they have pretty good clam chowder (from food service, they just heat 'em big frozen chunks). Oh, and also if your local Nordstrom has a lil cafe, they have clam chowder too (although a lil saltier), it tastes good!

If I can think of any more, I'll letcha guys know. =P

Hey man, I'll go easy on you cuz you're a n00b here and all, but Snow's brand sucks! That stuff is watery! Doesn't even taste good. But you're right about Nordstroms. Damn that's good chowder, but they charge so much for so little.

we used to tease my mother because when she would make the clam chowder for family gatherings in the summer she would be very sparce with the clams..I used to ask her if she bought one clam, tied it in a string and dipped it from bowlfull to bowlfull so we could all get a taste of it..even though the stuff was thick-it tasted like paste because she didn't put enough of the 'good stuff' in it..bad clam chowder sucks..Passwird why don't you try making your own? It's pretty easy you know.

use planetfeedback.com to write a letter to progresso telling them how heartbroken you are... you'll probly get some freebies for your trouble.

and if you still like the taste, and just want it to be creamy, buy a pint of half n half or whipping cream and just pour a few tablespoons into the can... oughtta fix it right up.

Of course man. I went to high school in Boston. Makes no difference though... intolerance is intolerance. Give me a bowl of clam chowder and I'll show you how to knock a skunk unconscious without using my hands.

I remember my trips to Mass./N.H. during my time with Digital. Ahh, Legal Seafoods chowder. Some Digital facilities even had it in their cafeterias on Fridays.

I've never been to Boston to taste it, but drop on by Fisherman's Wharf or Pier 39 in San Francisco, pretty satisfying =)

Oh yeah.. some more chowders that taste good..

If any of you still have Sizzler's around, theirs is pretty good.. Though it be food service, its still good. I just go there, order the salad bar, skip the salad, and drink all you can drink clam chowder!

As for Fresh Choice, theirs don't have much taste. I know it may be more healthy, but I want good tastin food, not food thats good for me! =P

I love clam chowder......But I like going to a place by the beach, for those in Southern California, in the Ventura Harbor is a place called Andria's, that has great Clam Chowder....It's yummy....I love it. Also a place that has it ok is The Great Steak in Torrace....but yeah if I can I won't ever buy it in a can....

the clam chowder is really good...and when they make a new soup they don't mix the two.....the old one gets poured out into the sink and the new one is set it....their chicken noodle soup and chile is good too.....heh soups galore

I went to Souplantation once, and boy was I disappointed. Being that the name starts with "Soup", I expected it to have lots of soup as in more variety. They only had like 5-6 or so to choose from. It was pretty similar to Fresh Choice. For those who don't like their soup too salty or peppery, etc., you might like it. But I like it with lots of taste, which there just wasn't much of. Their pasta was also sub-par. Just my two cents =)
