Thumbs up Astronomy Picture of the Day

This is a site I like to visit every day (and if you miss a day, you can always page backwards to preivous days through the links at the bottom of the page). Today's picture is a great one. If you click on the picture, you will be taken to a larger resolution of it. I keep a collection of these for screensavers and wallpapers.

The general Pic O The Day is at http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html

The larger version of today's picture is

Awesome Markel, thanks. My dad is like you, likes to put these as wallpapers. I think NASA just takes their budget and hires artists to draw cool drawings

Maybe NASA should think about increasing their budget by selling desktop themes?

Hmmm. Does it have something to do with Dopey's realm?

I've got a free wallpaper changer from http://www.wallpaperchanger.de/ . I save the astronomy pictures that I like (sometimes cropped to a better shape for screen dimensions) to a particular directory. The Wallpaper Changer just cycles through that directory and changes the wallpaper at a specified interval. It also has a nice option to make your icon texts "transparent" so that your wallpaper shows through better. I have over 100 images in my "space shots" folder.

I used to have an application (artplayer, from liquidart) did both the wallpaper and screensaver from the same images, but it isn't available any more. It also required you to "load" each image into it's database of screens.

Arki (or should I call you Stan? ),

Did you try clicking on the second link in my original post? It just brought up the image for me. If you click on the first link, it will take you to "today's" picture, and you will need to click on the back arrows at the bottom to get back to yesterday's (Feb. 13) picture.
