    Problems with IE GRR

Ok. I mentioned this one before and no one answered. When I click a link to any .zip file in IE, it tries to open the zip file automatically, I don't get the dialog box that gives me the option to save it. I have to right click and goto save as. This just recently started to happen, any ideas? Also, Whenever I goto View Source, nothing happens. I can't view the source of any webpages, any ideas there?

I don't have any ideas on the "View Source" fix, but for the "Automatically saving .zip files", try messing around in "Tools, Properties, Advanced" of IE.

And also check your .zip extraction program. it might have set it to automatically save open them for some reason.

I don't have a zip extraction program. Just XP treats .zips as "compressed folders" and tries to open it as a folder when I click on it.

Yep. I removed and re-installed IE as well. Still the same thing.

The way files get handled is a function of the OS, mainly. IE is just doing what Windows is telling it to do. Try this: in Windows Explorer, not IE, go to Tools > Folder Options. You'll see a tab at the top - File Types. Find the ZIP extension and delete it. Now open IE and find a ZIP to download. You should get the prompt back.

Thanks OC. You rock, that fixed the zip file problem. Now if only I could get the stupid view source to work.
