    Road Trip 2002 to E3!

Myself, AMRivlin, and Jeweg (A lurker at apex, he shows his face once in a while) are going on a massive road trip this summer, one of the main attractions being E3.

Here are the stops, in the order we will be visiting.

    1. Arches National Park, Utah
    2. Bryce Canyon, Utah
    3. Zion National Park, Utah

Once in LA we will be visiting the following places:

    4. E3
    5. The Getty Museum
    6. Hollywood
    7. The Beach
    8. Beverly Hills

On our way back, we will visit the following places:

    9. The Barringer Crater
    10. The VLA (Very Large Array)
    11. Los Alamos National Laboratories

We might stop at White Sands Missle Range if there is anything to see, as it will be on our way back home.

We would like to meet other GAers that live in and around LA to join us for some of the activities we will be attending. Maybe we could meet at the Getty, or the beach, etc.

Here is a map of our itenerary.

Sounds like a fun trip! You'll love Southern Utah, just remember that it is going to be HOT while you are camping, and take lots of water. You should try to get to Lake Powell while you are in the area.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, and you'll have their shoes.

Yeah keep well hydrated. So Utah is scorching during the summer. Easily around 110 or so daily. Should stop by Vegas though. Take some pics and go down to LA. heehee.
My personal fave location you're visiting is Bryce, been there like 3 times.

Visiting SoCal and skipping San Diego!!!
    That's just so wrong!

It's like having a Hot Fudge Sundae without the Fudge.

If you come to your senses you can see what is happening in San Diego here: www.sdinsider.com

I have always wanted to go to bryce. My plan is to get up early and see the sunrise on the rocks at bryce.

Is there any GAers in the LA area that might want to hook up with us? You are more than welcome to hang out with us if you want.

you guys are going within an hour or so of the grand canyon. if you haven't been there before, you should consider stopping there.
now imho, the grand canyon isn't as good as everyone makes it out to be (arches beats it any day), but if you've never seen it, it's worth checking out.
also, it looks like you've planned stuff pretty well, but just to check, have you factored going over mountains into your drive time? (i didn't really look that closely at your mile:time ratio, so i'm just checking to make sure you did). when i was out there this summer, i found that going through switchbacks, etc, can make your drive time much longer than you would expect. so if you haven't already, make sure you figure that into your plans.
of course, if you don't have someone in the front seat freaking out and wanting to slow down because you're by the edge of a mountain (aka my mom), then you won't have to allow quite so much time

We Used RivTec Software to compile the map

RivTec Maps+ is a great utility. AKA MapPoint 2002
All the times take into consideration 15 min breaks, gasoline, and construction so it should be fairly accurate (With in an hour)

I am not sure if we have time to swing to Grand Canyon and do stuff. I have been there and hiked it, but I think E3 is more important. By the way this trip doesnt leave the station till Sunday, May 19.

sounds like a good map program. is it freeware/shareware, or did you buy it?

    MapPoint 2002

Is a M$ OfficeXP program I actually own. It was given out at an XP convention I attended. African and European modules are now avaliable. I only have NA.

It is a beefy program allowing you to integrate contacts from Outlook into the mapping portion and Print Maps to show delivery boys what Mexico exit to take with the UHaul.

It is more for busness models and office/visio connections.
The only thing missing from route planner is the actual data and Nightly stop adjustments. I think it is more focused on businesses not Personal Travel; But it allowed us to find construction and places of interest.

Hollywood was to see some Stars or something, if it is a waste reccomend something else before we drive out to AZ that day.

Forget Hollywood. I would just stop by Lawry's (or claimjumpers) and grab a bite to eat.
